They are the characters who make us cringe when they appear on screen. They
ruin every storyline they are placed in. We don't love to hate them...we simply
hate them period. Who are your most hated characters?

Katie Kennicott
Chuck Tyler- Always was and always will be simply BORING.
Del Henry
Anton Lang
Robin McCal
Mateo Santos

AlexAnna -- they DESTROY every scene they're in, as well as every character
they interact with for more than 10 seconds. They are, without a doubt, the
worst EVER.

Mateo -- I don't understand the point of him or his damned pointing.

NuLaura -- Ugh. Is she dead yet?

TKFP -- *screaming and running in circles, tearing hair*

Tina -- Remember that van scene? *spitting*

That's all I can think of now. Just listing them is making my head hurt.

Shaqqie, you must've only started watching AMC in the last 5 years or
so? All these other characters are old-timers.

Katie Kennicott = sister of Mary and Dan Kennicott. Mary was married to
Jeff Martin. I don't remember too much about Katie; I think she was a
nurse. She must've been on when I was in school.

Chuck Tyler = Phoebe's grandson. A doctor. Involved with (and married)
Tara Martin (we're talking early 70s here!); step-dad to her son Phillip
(who later changed his name to Charlie, the same Charlie Martin who did
the deed with Erica and was last seen leaving Pine Valley to marry
Cecily). Chuck later got involved with teen prostitute Donna Beck,
eventually married her, divorced her, married her again. I think the
last we heard of them they moved to Kentucky where Chuck is chief of
staff at a hospital.

Anton = UGH! HATE HIM! Dmitri's son by servant-girl Corvina. HATE HER
TOO! Shaqqie, be VERY VERY glad you don't know these two characters!
They are boring beyond belief!

Robin McCall = She came into Pine Valley as a grifter-type, shortly
after Jenny Nelson died. Played by Hunter Tylo, though that wasn't her
name at the time. She changed it after she married ______ Tylo who
played another character on AMC. I think Robin got involved with Greg
Nelson, or else was just going after him big time. A little later her
brother came into town (another grifter-type). I think it was her
brother who married a MUCH OLDER Phoebe (or am I thinking of another
scam artist? someone please correct me!)

Hope this helps, Shaqqie. I'm sure other old-timers will pop in and
give you better details (or correct me where I'm wrong I hope!).

What a sadistic topic, Kenneth! :) OK, here's some of my most-hated
characters. The first two are gimmes:

Tanner Jordan
TKFP

My other least faves are:

An Li Chen
Melanie Courtland
David Rampal
Ceara Conners
Corvina Lang
Craig Lawson
Gloria Marsh
Devon McFadden
Wally McFadden
Jim Thomason #2 (now JT#1 as played by the yummy Roscoe Born ...
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm)
Margo (I don't remember too much of her, just that she SCARED me for
some reason as a kid!)
Terrence Frye
Max Santos and his mother (Raquel?)

Meh. Didn't bore me enough to hate him.

No, no, no, no. Aside from his Pierce-like miracle carpentry powers,
he was far far too cute to be hateful. (IMHO, of course.)

See above.

She went on to be Hunter Tylo and quite successful, right? Same
actress, new name and hair colour? A real washout on AMC, though.

>Mateo Santos

Nope, because I enjoyed evil Mateo last season.

I'd suggest:

Perennial Disfavourites:

Katie Kennicott
Liz Sloane
Tanner Jordan
Camille (WallWoman)
TKFP

And more personal choices:

Lucas Barnes
Trask Bodine
Adrian Sword
Ted Orsini
Carrie Sanders (Tyler)
Silver Kane (Noel)
Hector Santos
Becca
Sarah Kingsley

and numerous children, but that's the actor, not the character.
If it were actors, not characters, I'd have to add Natalie #2, Brooke
#3, etc., most of whom I've mercifully forgotten.

I'll have to give this question some thought and sleep on it. I have 22 years
to cover! I do remember, though, the strange profile of Katie Kennicott's
nose. Wasn't she smooching with Joey Martin (our one and only Jake) while he
was married to the crazy Emily Ann (daughter of Estelle and Billy Clyde,
although she resembled her step father Benny)? She and Joey were a good match,
both goody-goodies, but he was tied down.

I'm finding it easier to remember those I enjoyed, like Devon and Wally and
their daughter Bonnie, who first brought Stuart out of the attic.

Or was it Wally who was falling for Katie?

Hunter Tylo then went by Debra something & her now & for long time
husband is Michael Tylo, one of the voices of daytime, possibly best
known as Quint on GL but also on GH, AMC as you said, and more.

Hunter Tylo was going by Deborah Morehart in those days. She did get
involved with Greg -- but wasn't it Tad who ended up locked in the bank
vault with her? The guy who married Phoebe was Wade Matthews, and I don't
think he was related to Robin McCall. Anybody remember this more clearly
than I do?

I must protest, I simply must. Ever since this thread began, people

blasted K_______t family. Even Ashley (the original Ashley, jewel of

There could be innocent children reading over your shoulders. To

Some characters are most definitely awful, but they DO provide some
very entertaining moments. Corvina's shining moment was when she
called Erica a "self-serving shrew". It was CLASSIC ROTFLMAO!

> Gloria Marsh

She certainly knew how to make an entrance on the show (in a thong
teddy). After that, it was all downhill.

Devon McFadden -- two memorable moments for me were both during drunken
tirades. Upon being a relative innocent who was subsequently seduced,
then dumped by Sean Cudahey, she raved at him: "I ***DEGRADED***
myself for you!!!", which brought to mind all manner of guessing about
what she actually DID that was so degrading. Later, having become an
alcoholic over the affair, her mother, Ellen, had no alternative but to
put her in a sanatarium to dry out. Devon to Ellen: "Sold down the
RIVER by my ***OWN MOTHER***!!!" She was so drunk and was just
DRIPPING venom when she said it.

A great Bonnie McFadden moment was when she was playing house and,
assuming it was flour, used Mark's cocaine stash to make a cake in her
toy oven. Alas, she spilled most of it and used a real vacuum to clean
it up.

Nah, the 6-yr-old Joey was MUCH worse. I just CRINGED watching him!
I'd say the 4-5 yr old J.R. was pretty bad (and he was), but he never
said or did anything. I think he was on dope (oh wait, the dope was
Dixie, carrying him around everywhere).

One of the cutest baby/toddler actors was the baby(ies) who played
Laura Cudahey. She was ADORABLE. Then she got into the talking stage
and proved to be much too intelligent and lively to keep. Brooke and
Tom were talking in one scene. Tom called her "Brooke" and the baby
picked up on it, pointing at Julia Barr and shouting over and over:
"Brooke, Brooke, Brooke, Brooke, Brooke!" She was thrilled with her
newfound ability for language :-) They replaced her soon after, much
to my dismay. The baby Bianca was really cute, too, as was Maddie.

Wade WAS her brother on the show. I think they both had changed their

It's right up there with BooHooHoolia's entrance in a towel,
or FirstLaurel in Jackson's headlights.

This should be a new thread -- what was the most memorable
intro for a character -- the first time the character was seen?
I was thinking Angelique being rolled out at Dimmy/Nat's
party was pretty cool. Was that actually the first time
we had seen her? I remember hints of her existence and
Brooke and Jackson going to Switzerland to look for her.
But I think that's the first time she was definitely shown
alive.

Julia in the towel knocking on Charlie's door?
Ryan, shirt gaping open, offering blood to Dimitri?
LeeAnn painting her toenails (oops -- OLTL, but I still remember it!)

My nominee for the Worst Child Actor on the Planet is the original Bobby
Warner. That kid must've been related to trees, because he just sat,
like a log, in all his scenes. Never cracked a smile, never said a word,
he would be where people put him and not move until someone put him
somewhere else. People comment about the kids on GH that play Lulu and
Michael, but in my mind, this kid was the absolute worst I've ever seen
in my 20+ year history of watching soaps. I'll stop, because my mind is
now cringing at the memory. Ugh. :) Patt.

Have to agree.

Joey's defining moment, for me, was (why did they give him lines?) at
a Martin family get together, and he stood and uttered, completely
monotonously, something like:

"Tad and I were outside playing ... No ... umm ... I was playing ...
No ... Tad and I were playing outside."

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Sometimes the most memorable entrances belonged to the worst
characters.

Camille, floating about the Crystal Ball.
Allie Doyle, eating Joe's hospital food.
Heck, even Raquel #1 sipping inexplicable champagne in a bubble bath
was memorable.

My favourite entrance, ever, though, has to be the Pseudo-gay-porn
introduction to Red Car Guy, aka Jake.

Ugh! I think you ought to say "S_____r" instead of...well....that nickname of

Anyway, thanks for the reminder about Wade and Robin. That was a really long

No, I think she's December, he's May. Though, at this point, such
distinctions are somewhat relative.

A good a theory as any. I can't imagine they intended him to be
Pierce for very long, though I'll always remember his "dramatic"
introduction. There was that lovely day when Brooke walked into the
gallery to see all these stick figure drawings of "sad Pierce," then
the stunning, airbrushed "Missing Brooke" logo. (I swear, it looked
like those personalized t-shirts you can buy at theme parks and strip
malls, which pretty much summed up Pierce II, the Artist, for me.)

I have to give my own list of most hated, many of which are repeats:

Katie K-- K--- Kan't say it
Emily Ann (Except as rendered by Lexy)
Goldie Kane (though I loved the actress on Ryan's Hope, before she
gave up on lithium, apparently)
"Noel"
Lee "Hey, You" Hawkins
Camille, or whatever her name turned out to be
That Kit Fisher Person
(Maybe at this point I could sum up by saying "all Megan McTavish
creations," but I'm sure there are some in there who were later
redeemed by... y'know... writers)
Tanner Jordan
Laurel "SlugHer" Banning, though, like others, I loves me some
Felicity LaFortune
Julia Santos, post-Tornado
Anita Santos, every blessed moment
Noah Keefer
His mother, despite her valiant efforts at getting Noah and Julia out
of town
GloHo, post-sanctification
That cellmate of Janet's, who I hated for so many reasons, none of
them provided by the writers
Liz Sloane and her sis-- daughter
Michael Lowry's Jake
Pierce II
Pierce III
Jim II

I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but in the interest of balance, I have
to add a list of my beloveds:

Marian
Larry Pine's Barry Shire
Carrie Genzel's Skye Chandler
Liza, pre-Colby
Michael Delaney's doctor boyfriend, whose name shamefully escapes me
Natalie, pre-Tweety, obviously
Alex Marrick (and Michael Nader's Dimitri, whenever he worked with
her)
Greenlea
Smart Gillian
Nathalie Paulding's Bianca (haven't seen this year's model)
Leo... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Palmer
Either Opal
Igor, Dr. Kinder's dreamy assistant
Rudy
Winnifred
An-Li Chen, during that brief period when I hoped she'd murdered Will
Kelsey
Kevin
Connie Wilkes
Sybill Thorne
Daisy
Myra
Grace

And many others I'm sure I'm neglecting.

So, how's everybody doing? Are you all watching "Gilmore Girls"? You
should. Because, you know, it's my crusade in life to nag everyone
until they do. Just ask Tante.

According to imdb.com, she's going to be 55 this August, and he's going to be 42
in November. She looks a lot younger in real life than she does on Passions, so
they don't look as strange together as you'd imagine...

While I'm here, I'll add some beloved characters, since I don't think I've done
so yet. I've hit Worst Characters, and Memorable Entrances. So, here goes with
beloved characters who are no longer with us:

Will Cortlandt, the Patrick Stuart version
Monique Jonville/Daisy Cortlandt
Myra Sloane
Jasper Sloane
Hillary Wilson
Kendall Hart
Axel Greene
Janet Marlowe Green Dillon, both the Kate Collins and the Robin Mattson versions

Elvira Hayley
Sybill Thorne
Sean Cudahy
Robin Christopher's Skye

The Raeification of ABC soaps have obliterated the

I confess, my choosing Hillary was somewhat motivated by just having seen her
guesting on an episode of Babylon 5 last week. She played an outwardly saccharine
sweet goody two shoes who was in actuality a very sick and twisted viper. It's a
_great_ character.

I guess maybe another reason I liked Hillary was because I was so young at the time
she was on the show, and so could identify more with the young PV ingenues. Now I
think seasoned broads like Vanessa and Daisy (oh, please bring her back!) are much
more fun. :-)

atrocious "battered wife Galen" story: it brought in the deliciously
evil Carter Jones, whom I'd always hoped would break out of prison and
hook up with Janet or something. Oh well.

Speaking of Carter, worst recast has to be TweetyNat, with whom Carter
became inexplicably obsessed...
