The song Ned sang was the song from "I Love Lucy" when Lucy
broke the news "We're Having A Baby (my baby and me)" by
requesting it anonymously from the audience of Ricky's night club.
Ricky walked around the club, singing the song, trying to locate the
couple he was 'breaking the happy news" for. Nobody owns up to
it, until he comes to Looosie. And that's how Lucy let Ricky know
Little Ricky was on the way!
Very cute use of the song here. I also liked Ned's rock parody.
The song that Janis Ian sang was "When Angels Cry" from her
Revenge CD. They played it very effectively during the Stone
story. By the way, they cut a verse or two that didn't fit the Stone
story, and they had Janis sing the cut version. I personally think the
cut version is much more effective, certainly in context.
I don't remember what Alan sang, but I love his voice.
I love the Nurse's Ball. I've loved it ever since
Grandpa Tom got the expensive machine for the hospital
by getting Doug, Julie, and everyone else in the cast to sing
and dance for it. Oops, that was Days, a long long time ago.
But, same thing.
I think, folks, GH stole the Nurse's Ball from Days. They're
very competitive, you know.

Wasn't it Beautiful Girls from Follies?

Yup, written by the immortal Steven Sondheim. Another song of his was
sung by I forget who (Carly and someone, I think...sorry--it's been a
long week!): "Together, Forever We Go" from "Gypsy."
I just started watching GH last week because I found out some former DOOLers
are there (don't shoot me because I like DOOL :), and wouldn't you know, I
lucked out and picked the perfect episode to start with--The Nurses Ball.
Just have to say, so far, the writing is great compared to DOOL! Now I know
why GH won an Emmy for best soap this year. And I've only been watching a
week! (Doesn't mean I'll stop watching DOOL, though. I need my daily
dose of a good laugh. :-)
Cheers,
Josie
