Maybe the only way to have approached today's show would have been to
go into it expecting the worst. There I was, prepared to sob my way
through the years, and I never even needed to take the plastic
wrapping off my Puffs Ultras. Like the Beatles sang, "I should have
known better".

- What "dimples" was Marissa talking about when she mentioned falling
for JAR after seeing them? Must be the ones near his ass, because I
couldn't see any on his face (do they show up in HD??).

- Looks like they're going to pursue Fievel Lavery's romance with
saber-tooth tiger Kane (because she is **so** far beyond cougar
status). My fork is officially stuck into both of them (in
preparation of shredding them and adding some KC Masterpiece BBQ
sauce). ugh.

- Since I despise everyone currently on the show, *their*
recollections meant precious little.

TPTB tucked it to us, guys. It was the lamest anniversary show ever,
and I'm glad I haven't been investing any kind of time on AMC on a
regular basis. But I give you all props for sticking with it and
posting - I *do* still read here sometimes.

I'll check back to read if the sets in LA LA Land have actual colors
in them - to replace the turd brown of every building and every room
in the current version of PV. 'Til then...

Mare - feeling like I swallowed a bottle of No More Tears shampoo

I figured she was talking about his dimples being what she loved because she
only knew him for about five minutes before marrying him, so really, that was
the only thing she could come up with.

In once flashback, you can see how Jacob Young once had *normal*
teeth, not the current Charlie McCarthy choppers he has now due to the
invisible braces he wore for some apparent reason. He should have left
well enough alone. It was the scene in the Chandler mansion when he
had some facial hair and spiked hair standing near the double
doorways.

Glad they didn't use the clip when had shaggy near-platinum blond hair
dressed in black given Zarf a run for his money in his Elton John-ness
(remember Zarf? Thought not).

For me, the most glaring error was to have this horrible narration over
the CLIPS, with no real audio on the clips! This was almost as if it were
a commercial for new viewers, trying to encourage them to watch. The
biggest irony was having people like James Mitchell and Julia Barr and Joe
McDonnell saying how it was such a wonderful place to be--and they are all
off the show. In what universe does Denise Vassey get more dialogue than
James Mitchell?

Honestly, it would have been so much better if the pretense of having
Haley there was a doco about HER return to her hometown and showing lots
of clips with the actual audio.

It was quite dismaying. I don't know why I expected more from this show. I
should have had at least a good weep watching Jenny die, or Mona talking
to Erica, SOMETHING!

Sigh. This is why I stopped watching. They should have done something much
more akin to the Myrtle memorial ep from last year.

Meanwhile, wouldn't it have been terrific if CLIFF had come back with
Nina? Too bad Y&R would probably never allow such a thing.

That's Denise Vasi (Randi), but your saying that makes me recall another
missing face from the anniversary show: Liz Vassey (eMilY aNnE).

Agreed. We were cheated by not really _seeing_ (or at least hearing) the old
clips.

Oh gosh, that would have been amazing. Too bad they couldn't make that
happen. Although, my top fantasy returnee remains...the great Cecily!

Gotta say I was disappointed too. The clips were too brief and I
would have like to have heard the dialog too. They could have
skipped all the crap with newbie characters like Brot, Marissa,
Natalia, etc and spent the time on Nina, Brooke, Joe and Ruth, Palmer,
etc. Those were the people I tuned in to see.

I guess expectation was too high. With that idiot in charge of the
show of course he would screw it up. *sigh*
