Here's Brian's official site:

Brian was also Sam on Another World. Was he the last? I know he's the
one who suddenly developed a singing career that ruined his marriage to
Amanda.

Dixie and Brian were having a fling. Tink didn't know this and kept
turning to Dix for advice on how to reunite with Brian (because of
Dixie's unblemished record of romantic success, I'm guessing, or maybe
fond memories of Dixie's brother, Will). Tink eventually found out
that her situationally convenient best friend was doing Tink's ex, had
a meltdown, and told Adam that the boy Adam disliked so intently when
he was just Tink's beau was now acting as a de facto parent to Adam
Jr. Adam predictably freaked and went on the custody warpath; Dixie,
in turn, eloped with Brian and fled when it looked like Adam was going
to win. (This was all still with Chapstick Brian.) Between the time
Brian and Dixie (and horrible, horrible, curly Junior) took off in the
night and the time they arrived in their low-rent apartment home,
Brian had changed from Matt Borlenghi to Brian L. Green.
It all ended fairly predictably. Brooke tracked down a presumed-dead
Tad, Gloria boinked Adam into temporary submission, blah-de-blah,
typical custody issues. Brian became entirely irrelevant after Tad's
return, even though Tad and Dixie didn't immediately reunite.

Some PTB made an odd decision on that.

Order? I'd have to look it up. But, I think he was the last. Robert
Kelker-Kelly was first, then Daniel Gibson, then someone Markham, then
Brian L. Green, then no one & later Brian L. Green once more. I found
it odd that he went from fine artist, visual artist, painter, artiste,
one who could & did do art work for a magazine but only to feed
himself who then became a C&W singer. Talk about change in style!

IMDb says it was Daniel Markel, and Thomas Gibson. Maybe I'm running
them
together in my mind, too, since I don't remember Markel at all, and
I'm pretty sure I only remember Thomas Gibson because he showed up
later on "Dharma & Greg." Was Markel that completely forgettable? Or
just moreso than the others?
I do remember thinking that C&W was an odd choice for an artist with
way too much pride, too. I also thought Brian Green was poorly cast
as a character who was always the tall, dark, brooding, temperamental
artist. Actually, I just felt sorry for him in general, since he
seemed pretty much doomed as Sam due to the PTBs' need to make
characters sing just because the actor can.

Thomas Gibson was very very briefly on. And, Daniel Markel I only
remember because he went on to be on ATWT as a David Stenbeck. Yeah, I
smooshed those names all together, didn't I?!!

And, to have been largely stripped of the personality the character
had previously had without any particular replacement!!

Yes, he was the last. Thomas Gibson must have been incredibly brief (presumably
between RKK and Daniel Markel), because AWHP doesn't even mention him.
Heh. My gaydar was finally right, for once. I always thought he was gay, from
the moment he first stepped foot on Another World.

I think David Markel (? first David Stenbeck) played the role briefly. I
wasn't watching a lot at the time, but I thought the RKK Sam was heavily
into his art and even had some successful exhibitions.
I suspected he was gay.

Yes, he did, definitely. And, he was proud of that work while being
elitist about having to work in Layout or as an Art Director on one of
the family mags. But, it was Gibson's time as Sam that was just a blip
on the screen, in time. Markel, a bit longer.

1-Russ Anderson-he played Steve Holden on OLTL, Max's brother who was killed
when a wedding cake exploded (i hate when that happens)
2-Doug Wert-he played Wade on OLTL, who was Marilynn's boyfriend, late 80's,
and he played Scott Eldridge on ATWT early 90's.
I had a crush on both. ;-)

Yes. RKK was Sam all the way up to Amanda's affair with Evan, IIRC.

Matt Borlenghi, who came out last year as a substance abuser trying to
be in recovery, was chapstick Brian? Honest, I was watching but I'm
not sure, don't get it, etc. <G> Thnx.
But, I loved Curly Junior! That one was so far one way that he came
around the other as cute cute cute.

Okay, wait, so which Scott Eldridge was he? I think I have a mental
picture.

IIRC, Doug Wert was the second Scott Eldridge.
Joseph Breen was first. Any updates on him?

Last I heard he was still healthy living in Long Island, but, that had
to be at least 2 years ago.
Saw Brian L. Green, ex-Bodine & ex-AW Sam 'Country' Fowler, in that
OUT, and he is so good-looking! And, who ever would believe he's 41?

I must be losing it, who was Scott Eldridge?

I always thought Daniel Markel was. He made my gaydar go shproink!
from his very first day. Pre-Sam, maybe as a Sam tryout, he played a
guy named Sean who either raped, or tried to rape, Josie. Matt kicked
his ass out by the Cory pool. Great fight.
Anyway, his first day (scene?) as Sam he did a shower scene, as naked
as you can get on network TV, and something about it just made me
think "gay, gay, gay, gay, gay." (Maybe the fact that I equate tape
and naked men with gay porn?)This impression was not changed the day
he did the Christmas thing with Olivia in his Santa Claus suit.
He's got a wife and two or three children, so I guess I couldn't've
been more wrong.
Brian Lane Green never made any impression on me at all. I must have
stopped watching for awhile then.
As for Thomas Gibson, he was only a temporary, as far as I know. I
think he was signed to do FAR AND AWAY, so he couldn't, or didn't want
to, sign a contract w/AW. What I don't remember is whether he'd
already played Derek on ATWT (w/Charles Keating as his father) when he
came to AW, or if he played Sam first.
dp
This thread has wandered in & out of being topical for AMC/RATSa. In
this instance, this character is an ATWT character. <G> So, whether
you're losing it or not may still be a valid question, but, this
thread can't be used as evidence of it!! LOL
I'm gonna just change it to a TAN & let it do its own thing here in
RATSa because if switched to RATSc it would be about a week & 30
replies away from its original context, I'm guessing. Oops.
