M00se35: Amber/Chad what is your favorite part of the Holiday Season?
Chad: Spending some time with my family...going home and spending
some time with them
Amber: Having fake snow thrown in my face by Chad Brannon - it
hurts when it gets in the cornea, trust me.
EmilyEfan: Chad did they extend the role of Zander because you and
Amber work so well after the recast?
Chad: You know as much as I do really. I just know that everyone
said we have this chemistry (I don't know why - look at Amber *g*)
Amber: Wait til tomorrow
Chad: I don't know why they kept me
Amber: I know that they pretty much - the idea was that if it
went well, that they would be making Zander Emily's love interest.
Chad: So this is what I heard when I first came in: I got this
audition on a Monday afternoon, mgr called and I had an audition in
three hours - it was a last minute audition. I had auditioned for them
about 6 months before that
Amber: Mark Teschner does that - he always brings them back if
he likes them, Becky, Tava.
Chad: I had this last minute deal and didn't think I had this
job, called my girlfriend, told her I didn't have it. I thought there
were other guys more "soapy looking" then me. I got a call that night,
went to work the next day. The reason they were recasting the role was
for a new love interest for Amber, needed someone younger and could
play more realistically with her. I was supposed to go to jail and
that was the end of it - but it didn't end.
Tiffany: are you working on contract with GH?
Chad: No, not at this time. Nothing will be going on til Jill
Farren Phelps gets in there
Ugie86: Amber/Chad. Did you both always want to act?
Amber: No, I always wanted to be a rock star
Chad: No, when I was little, little, little, I did plays, but I
don't remember that stuff. No, I didn't start acting until I
auditioned for a play in 10th grade, I was in sports and stuff. A
girlfriend dared me. I auditioned for the stupid play and got the
lead, and from then on got the lead in every single play. I wanted to
be a lawyer or a politician
???: What's it like working with Maurice Benard?
Amber: He makes me nervous. He's such a phenomenal actor, he's
very VERY unpredictable, which makes him phenomenal, which is why he
makes me nervous and why he and Sarah Brown work so well together.
They play off of each other - most of what you see of them is off the
cuff - they change lines and things.
Chad: Maurice is the kind of actor that every actor dreams to
work with - very improvisational - you throw something and he just
takes it - like baseball, you throw him a hard one and he'll throw you
one back just as hard. He has a creative brain that you can just mold
and make this great scene with. It's like life - here's what I got -
what do you have to give. It's not here's my line there's your line.
Amber/Chad - Absolutely no time whatsoever - working us four or
five days a week
annan73: for Amber, Are you and Becky still enjoying parfaits from
McDonald's, and do you ever take Chad with you?
Chad: I'm not cool enough to hang out with them *g*
Amber: That is true. I kinda got over fruit parfaits - Jack in
the Box is my god - but a fruit parfait will always be a favorite
Pkb111976: What will happen after the shoot out? Will Emily admit she
loves Zander?
Amber: Why would we possibly tell you that (LOL)
below the curve: what was your favorite scene together?
Amber/Chad - The first kiss in the prison scene...usually what
they do, the scene starts out with us kissing then we break then the
director calls 5, 4, 3, 2,...... the director only counted 5. So we
kept kissing, for about a minute and a half, then we hear from the
booth - all the girls (it was an all girl producer day) giggling
SAFILMS7023: Chad, if you don't have a contract, does that mean Zander
will be gone soon? Or will they keep him on recurring status till Jill
Farren Phelps gets there
Chad: You know as much as I do but Amber says "He's not going
anywhere. The number one most important opinion is the fans. The
reason I'm here is because of the fans.
<CalicoCat21> Chad, what's it like to go from being virtually unknown
to having all these fans, practically overnight? And Amber, being an
"old pro" in the business, have you given Chad any advice?
Chad: It's pretty wild, although I haven't gotten the chance to
see it up close. When I was in New York, it was wild, here, it hasn't
been that much in my face. I haven't been to any fan events.
Amber: There's always a little advice things that we both give
each other. Chad came in immediately and I didn't have to say
anything. Chad wanted to go ballistic and I told him to go for it.
StephW655: Chad are you surprised by all of the sudden attention and
praise that you've been receiving?
Chad: As an actor you always want to get your shot - for someone
to just give you the shot and I always knew that if I got the chance,
that I'd work my butt off to make the most of it.
<cam328> Chad, welcome and thanks for coming to the chat. *W*
My Q: What did you draw on to find the emotion for the scenes you did
with StuartD/Alan?
Chad: I don't know (Amber beat me beforehand *g*) There's
something really sweet about Amber, that I really connect with and I
do find that feeling for Zander very easily. I want to protect her,
anyone who messes with Emily/Amber, I want to get in their face.
Ghdiehard: Who's the funniest on the set?
Amber: Nancy Lee Grahn is my goddess.
Chad: Maurice or Amber
<chadbrannonfan> Chad&Amber, what do you enjoy most about working on
GH and with each other? (Shameless Plug: Chad please visit my site
sometime - http://chadbrannon.i85.net/ )
Chad: OK
Amber: The friendliness, the family like environment
Chad: I'll say that too. I was told that it was like a family
there by Steve Burton - and it's really true. Then working with people
like John Homa, who can say two words to you about a scene and it's
exactly where it needs to be.
Amber: John, I used to have the biggest crush on him, he's
always been a mentor - he's like my father where he can say things to
me and get me emotionally. The cake question - no, JZ doesn't bring in
cake all the time. There's a fan of the show - Andrea, she always
brings in goodies all the time - she's really good friends with
everyone, but Jackie doesn't bring in things all the time.
<cjhar> When Zander gets out jail going to be a triangle with
jaun em and Z
Amber: Something like that
Chad: Ditto, it's all really confusing
<Crauchan230> If you could pick your characters to be paired with
anyone romantically on the show...who would it be & why?
Amber: Carly
<Crauchan230> lol
Amber: Sarah Brown is the most amazing actress I've ever seen in
my life. They can have Susan Lucci's daughter go gay - they should
have my character do it *g*
StephW655: Chad are you suprised by all of the sudden attention and
praise that you've been receiving?
Chad: Yea, I've been very grateful with the opportunities I've
been given and with the response
DamnedBee-2: Chad--Do you have any ideas about who you're connected to
on the show, family wise?
Chad: No, and I hope they don't connect me to anyone. I really
hope they keep me independent
KrisPchkn: Hi guys! Aside from Maurice, just wondering who you look up
to as actors on and off GH?
Amber: Stuart Damon
Chad: Marlon Brando, Mel Gibson
EmilyForever-guest: Do you guys think that the story line with Zander
will age Emily into the "older teen"/ Young adult age? As in an adult,
but without responsibities? BTW- You guys are both phenomenal, Amber,
on to the Emmy's, and Chad, we're dying to get that contract!
Amber: Absolutely
Chad: I sure hope so, she needs to grow up sometime
Emwannabe138: Hey guys!! i was wondering if you have checked out the
ZEm sites? hope so because they are all really great.
Chad/Amber: The heart of ZEM. We tried to access others but
couldn't get in them.
gemini-guest: Hello Chad and Amber, being Canadian I was quite
surprised that in the storyline you were fleeing to Canada!!! Which
brings me to my question, have either of you visited Canada before
specifically Toronto and hopefully not fleeing from the law? Good luck
to both of you!!
Amber: I've been to Canada once when I was very little and my
father was doing a movie there, but not recently
Chad: I've been across the border once - when I was little, I
have some family that lives in New York and we went across for the
day.
???: All right. Chad's had scene with a lot of the veterans. Was
there a scene he's particularly proud of?
Chad: That scene with Stuart really was good for me - hit me in
a good emotional spot - went home that day and said, yep that's why
I'm an actor. Scenes with Amber - we've had some really good ones,
pushed it and scenes with Maurice - those have been good - when he
slapped the table, scared me - we had to redo the scene because I
jumped too high. That was a total surprise - he didn't do that in
rehearsal.
<Grissel1> Chad, many of us have been wondering when your official web
site will be up and running? (Oh, and BTW, thank you so much for the
autographed picture you sent me! It was very much appreciated!)
Chad: You are very welcome - I have no clue things are insanely
busy for me. Need to find somebody I can trust to do the fansite since
I'm computer illiterate
<JAC_Jewel454> Okay, first off, i love you two, now... What's the
hardest part of changing your love interest? Is it difficult to act
like your falling out of love with one person and getting together
with another? How do you feel about the changes in love interests? Is
it hard to adjust to? PS- Chad will you go out with me??
Amber says: "GRRR"
Chad: Watch out Amber might get you *g*
Amber: no, actually it's not that difficult, cause I've been
through it at least twice before, so it's easy to pull up that
emotion.
<Jennifer_B1> What scenes have you found the hardest/most challenging
to do?
Chad - probably the love ones since Amber is so ugly (LOL)
Amber: the ones on heroin
<Kabadab> Sorry if this was already asked, I got here late. Chad:
since you regularly visit Amber's site, would you ever consider
posting msgs. there the way she does? You guys are great btw :)
Chad: I"m being watched *g*!!!! As soon as I figure out how
<KerBear-guest> Hey Chad & Amber! I am studying filmmaking in Toronto
and I was wondering what kinds of movies you guys enjoy watching?
<vbeadle> Chad likes carebears *g*
Chad: Fightclub, Matrix, Braveheart, Raging Bull, Pulp Fiction
Amber: Requiem for a dream (Chad seconds that) Almost Famous,
Erin Brokovich
<JenniferH98> Amber - what is your opinion of the Juan/Emily story
compared to the Zander/Emily story & Chad, how has Zander's drug past
(Ruffies and such) played into your performance? BTW; I run the Heart
of Zem site/message board. I'm honored.
Amber: It's hard to put a definite finger on the differences - I
loved both stories very much - first loves are the greatest but it's
hard for me to comment on the differences
Chad: In the early times, I dunno, I think it's something that
he got into cause he needed money - don't think he did it out of
badness, I don't think he was a bad guy drug dealer, he just did it
for money, he was desperate for money.
<Kiaria15-guest> Will Zander & Emily have any hospital scenes after
the shooting 12/22..and will they ever kiss again??
Amber/Chad - maybe, maybe, maybe
???; Are either of you NFL fans? Got a favorite team you...(??)
Amber: OBSESSED! with the 49'ers
Chad: Houston just got an NFL team - they're called the Texans
<lkohl> Hi. Chad, do you ever feel that Zander might be guilty after
all and is pulling a con?
Chad: WHOOOO, that's an interesting thought - No
Amber: I think Zanders very genuine
Chad: That would be fun though wouldn't it? A perfect mindscrew
<maylope> Amber and Chad I think you are amazing actors. Chad , what
kind of sports do you practice ? Amber, you can be a rock star still,
you have a BEAUTIFUL voice !
Chad: rock climbing - they're gonna do a feature on me for that.
Scuba diving, rockclimbing, skydiving
<MJAIR-guest> Does Chad have a contract yet and will Zander be getting
a haircut when he gets out of jail? I think Chad would look gorgeous
with short hair. You look gorgeous anyways.
Chad: My mom would like to know that too - I don't know.
<OKJILYBEAN> Are you both alot like your characters? I think you both
are great
Amber: pretty much the only things in common - we're both
extremely passionate and stubborn
Chad: that's my response too *g* she goes wacko, I go wacko - if
it's something I truly believe in you'd better not get in my way -
though I'm a bit more restrained
<Outr8gs> Amber & Chad - Thanks for the wonderful entertainment that
you've been providing with! Love you both! Chad, can we look forward
to a Zander & Edward scene anytime soon? I'm sure Lila will love
Zander - she loves all the bad boys *g* BTW, do either of you visit
the ABC message boards? Many of us here are regulars on the GH Teens
board.
Chad : Zander's looking forward to butting heads with Edward.
With Lila, we'll probably get along just great. She'll probably
welcome me into the family
<PetticoatJunction> Chad if you had a choice who would you like as
your parents on GH and Amber who would you like as your future
in-laws? p.s. I'm partial to Alexis and Luke or Robert Scorpio. BTW
Grissel got two pictures was one of them MINE LMAO P.S. I love your
hair
Chad: I don't know.
Amber: The Cassadines
Chad: I want the Q's as inlaws - they're all screwed up. I'd fit
right in
<piratejenny> chad alot of us from the heart of message board sent you
letters with pixy stix did you get them and have you read any of the
fanfic about Zem what do you think of it we love you over there chad
and Amber too if you every need your ego boosted just keep checking us
out and thaks for the autoghraped pic you sent
Amber: He gave them all to me. I got addicted to them during the
scenes
Chad : I got them, I hate pixy sticks but I love the thought.
lois14941: I am a high school literature and drama teacher, huge fan,
and hope to meet you both someday. What is the averagedle # of takes
in a scene either alone or together and how much ad libbing do you do.
Amber: it depends - 1-2, not that many
Chad: considering Amber usually comes to the set UNMEMORIZED
.....
Amber: we don't usually do much adlibbing unless we think it
improves the scene
HI Chad and Amber, I enjoy watching your chemistry grow on GH if you
could go back in time and correct anything in your life, what would it
be and why? love Amber Lynn
Chad: I don't know. Everything in life happens for a reason, so
no matter how messy, I wouldn't change anything
Amber concurs: "No regrets"
<Renata770> Hey Chad & Amber! I absolutely love your work on the show,
and I think that your chemistry with Amber is amazing. I have one
question for the both of you: If you could change anything about your
character, what would you change?
Chad: Obviously the drug dealing, nix that
Amber: she can be bratty and not think of people sometimes
<RiverWendy> Chad, what was your first day on the GH set like? And
also...I love both of you. Keep up the great work! :)
Chad: very nice, everyone was really kind to me
prettypoet1972: If you had one wish granted to you what would it
be.....
Amber: More love on the earth - or Gore winning the election
Chad: that people were just honest and straightforward anytime
they talk to you
<Rose_Anne70> Chad, was it intimidating having to work with Amber's
dad?
Chad:it wasn't intimidating it was like I was in awe - I totally
knew who he was. He's such a nice guy - it was great working with him
Xfiles: What is the most memorable blooper that ever happened between
you guys durin the making of the show?
Chad: maybe the kiss thing
Amber: can't recall - snorted pixy dust up my nose once
BrendabarrettJacks: Chad, how are you handling your new found fame?
Chad: I'm flattered - it's great
<SassyChic7> For both Chad and Amber. First off love your acting! Now
if and when you go to college what would you major in?
Amber: Existential philosophy
Chad : went to college for two years, majored in theater - if I
were to go back, I'd probably finish it up in directing or some other
form of business
<Sistah-guest> Quickly, Amber, which brother was your dad in seven
brothers, seven sisters? It's been killing me, I can never figure it
out! You're the BEST youngest actress in ANYTHING in my books!
Amber: He played Gideon the youngest brother
<Spencer1958> Amber - any chace Emily & Zander will become the next
Alan & Monica
Amber: I sure hope not!
<stacie0323> Chad:what jobs did you have in LA before you landed GH,
or were you successful as soon as you got there? Any advice for people
trying to break into the business
Chad: Good lord! I worked at Jerry's famous deli - and sports
chalet - but I was pretty successful through the year - short roles in
the year before I got GH
Amber/Chad(both): Work hard and be in it for the right reasons -
if you have brains and a soul - and you can expose those things - you
can be an actor
<Zander4ever> Chad and Amber - you're both just awesome!!!!!!! You two
are the main reason I'm still watching GH. What was it like coming
into the GH family and working with so many soap giants like Stuart
Damon and Leslie Charleson?
Chad: it's been pretty surreal, my mom will call me and I'll
tell her I'm at the set and she's like :"Tony Geary could walk RIGHT
BY YOU?" It's hilarious and it's great for me and my family
<Tiggysgirl> Howdy to both of you! Chad: I'm an old Aggie who misses
Bluebell Ice cream madly, what do you miss most about Texas (if
anything)?
Chad: Blue bell ice cream, my family and friends - that's about
it. I plan on enjoying my career to wherever it takes me
Amber: ditto
Chad: hope I'm not burning any bridges - but I'm an Aggie
through and through - my uncle graduated from there and I was destined
to go there before I became an actor
<VArdinoski-guest> I liked that teen pregnancy question, is Emily
going to lead in a storyline like that? I agree, it's the biggest
societal issue in the town I come from. What do you guys think about
it? Does zander know that emily is on the pill?
Chad: no, not a clue
Amber: Emily is NOT on the pill - she only did that because she
wanted to comfort Elizabeth, so that she wouldn't feel so alone. Think
everyone read too much into it.
<VArdinoski-guest> Does that mean we can look forward to a 'mistake'?
Amber: (for V's question)-- that would be interesting - who
knows?
Chad: that would be messy *g*
<WendyCR72> Hi! Well, if either of you could be another character, who
would you like to play?
Amber: Carly
Chad: Sonny!!!
Amber: maybe they'll be related - hmmmm
Chad: that's the question - I don't know. They might. It's
impossible for us to know what they're writing for us - but it would
be nice to work for Maurice more
<ZanderRules> Chad, what do you think Zander should do first when he
gets out of jail? Chad, I love your work. You and Amber together are
awesome.
Chad: spend some quality time with Emily
<zemlover> how was the kiss for both of you?
Amber/Chad(both)- nice
Chad: scrumptious *g*
<IWnaBOnGnrlHsptl-gue> Chad-Who is your favorite cast member? LOL
Chad: favorite cast member - Uh hummmmmmmm...Amber. Too many
good people to even name one - not kidding
<kaleysmom-guest> Chad have you signed a contract with GH yet?
Chad: no contract news yet
<AcwardA-guest> Are there any of the sparks that fly between you two
on screen, off screen? You're both great, I think that you 'd be a
cute couple!
???: what about AJ? is he going to try and get straight and become a
"real" brother or remain a flounder?
Amber - AJ will probably remain a drunk for a while - I've no
idea. No sparks, we're friends
<piratejenny> Chad have you read any fan fic? what do you think?
Chad: no
<JenniferH98> Chad, have you worked with Anthony Geary? I would LOVE
to see you two interact?
Amber: better just keep watching and thank you (from both)
Chad - (working with Tony Geary) - no, I haven't, only met him
once
Amber: thanks for showing up!
Chad: thanks for being so nice - I really appreciate it

Dear Abby, My mother is mean & short-tempered. I think she is going
through her mental pause.
I put my comment on top when I quoted Snow Bunny's post
because it was so brief. Had I left the post out entirely,
one might wonder to what I was referring-- reply posts
sometimes get separated from the original for whatever
reason.
Had I put my comment at the end of S.B.'s post, I would have
been accused of excessive quoting. Que sera, sera. I promise
I'll try to do better.
kaci
I saw this only because I was reading Kaci's response to you. My
response will be brief.
I presume the "edit judiciously" is indicated in the FAQ, which I have
not as yet had a chance to read. Too busy with my job. So, until I get
a chance, I think it would be best if I do not take information from
any location and copy it here, lest I violate something in the FAQ
that I'm not aware of, since I've yet to read it. That will eliminate
scoops, spoilers, news items, chat transcripts, and other assorted
items.
I'll step aside and let the other good folk of this newsgroup continue
to keep y'all informed of what's happening, as they have always done,
long before I got here.
Ciao!
Actually, I think Donna was referring to Kaci's not snipping any of your
post before she responded, not to the transcript that you posted. Patt.

What a surprise. All this time here & portions of the FAQ being posted
by the FAQstress all of the time, but, alas, still no time to read any
of it. Alas, alack.

But, if you'd quoted 3-5 lines after your top-post & then snipped ....
hey, no problemo. <G>

What you did, in fact, though, was excessive quoting. However, trying
is all that is asked. <g> And, yes, C'est la vie, for sure.

And, just in case anyone mistakes this for any confusion about what
was being posted about, it was kaci's posting over 500 lines again &
adding only a small bit of thanks & enjoyment, etc. when even though
she apparently couldn't figure out a way to do so, there was a way to
post her appreciation, etc. & not flagrantly flaunt the FAQs or even
basic Usenet courtesy. Now, she knows, and since she very much seems

willing to step forward & teach how presumably because of the kind of
flak that comes their way for doing so & what a wonderfully thankless
job it's gotten to be. <G>

FWIW, giving information isn't chastising. But, since you seem unclear
on it, adding a header back in is a wonderful thing to do, even though
repeating 800+ lines isn't, unless, of course, one's point is to
encourage people to reply to the one with a header, etc. & then people
might be off on a discussion of which was better to do, this, that, or
the other. Might not, according to whether it was a slow news week
perhaps. But, some people do make a habit of trying to always get
something of high interest reposted if the original had no header,
which wasn't the case here, I don't think, in case people who aren't
picking up no Headers at all, might want to see that, etc. Right now
we just seem to be in an epidemic of header & other problem areas. One
can only hope things will get closer to normal soon.

;)
>You just couldn't resist, could you?
LOL, sure I could've. But, then, I don't look at helping in the same
way you do. I make time to do it, periodically, as opposed to feeling
a need to do it. I don't do it for myself in particular but because I
enjoy RATS the way I found out, proudly a bit more civilized than most
of Usenet. So, I learned from people before me & try to continue that
heritage. In that way, of course, what I do is also for myself, as
well as for the RATS community at large.
>It wasn't unclear to me at all what I was doing.
Great. I didn't think it was unclear to you what you were doing, but,
I got the impression from what you said, that you were unclear about
what I was doing, etc. or what I'd said, etc. so that, of course, was
what I was trying to clarify.
>I dub thee, Chief of NG Police.
Gee, as you wish. LOL. I don't see any Police anywhere around here,
just a peer community with a modicum of things we mutually agree to,
as outlined in the FAQs. And, if I wanted to be a Net Cop I'd go
around correcting grammar & otherwise concentrating only on what
happens to be my personal pet peeves & such, which I do not do.
>Btw, why didn't you change the header to reflect the TAN topic it's

Hard call to make, what & when to change headers, as opposed to
repairing stripped ones, etc. For example, here, I never would have
gone with your choice! <G> But, as I'm sure you're aware, I do at
times change to reflect topic drift.

often - as long as you put your comment at the top, above the quoted part, who bloody well

How often one reads the NG shouldn't really have much to do with it.
Given how long most servers are able to retain text NGs unless the
reply is going to be what most people would consider very old, like
over a week after the original post, the post itself & the reply would
age off nearly the same day. And, in the case of the examples here,
yep, they'd age off either the same day or the very next day. And, of
course, the FAQs are clear about judicious editing & why. I wonder
sometimes if anyone even cares about bandwidth anymore.

Take care.
kaci,
I think the above comment was directed more towards me than you. I have
continued the thread more than you ever did. One of the reasons I
perpetuated the thread was because I found the original post to you that
"suggested" snipping judiciously absurd since I knew you were anything
but a newbie, anything but clueless, and *IMO* you weren't in need of a
tutorial. And for those who would jump the gun, I am not saying kaci
was labeled as clueless or a newbie by anyone.
To anyone else interested:
For the record, I am not a newbie and I have read the FAQ though it was
ages ago and I didn't feel a need to memorize it. (Shoot me ;) I, too,
rarely think of bandwidth when I post. Either way, when I replied to
kaci's post and kept the transcript in it was not my intention to be
discourteous. I feel the same way another poster felt- that if someone
missed the post the first time, they could read it this time around,
with header intact. And before anyone has to repeat themselves, yes I
read the post that explained how the posts would expire at the same
time, etc. etc.

I think Jan, like me, was talking generally about posting & people &
not aiming it at anyone. This isn't about personalities, nor does it
call for anyone to take anything personally.

There's no indictment that anyone is or isn't a newbie or needs
anything, much less a tutorial. Anyone, no matter how long they've
been around can err, make a mistake, forget, or have misunderstood.
The only way to correctly remark on anyone's needlessly reposting over
800 lines, just to add their thanks & appreciation, etc. is to try to
have a sense of humor, be pleasant & polite, civil, and point out
what's just happened & what should have happened & why if need be.
This is a peer community. Doing so is courteous. Not doing so leads to
people flaming each other. If that's what some people want, they will
surely get it, if they persevere. But, it's definitely not what many
of us want.

Its original posting had an intact header. And, of course, any time
any one misses the original of anything but sees the replies & wants
to see the full thing, ask for a repost or an e-mail of it! People are
more than happy to help out in doing so. <G>

When comments are made, in a certain thread where only certain people
replied, they will be taken personally. Whether you intended it that
way or not is another story.

I'd say if you read the newsgroup long enough you could pretty much
figure out who was a newbie and who was not. Sure there will be
exceptions, but if I've been here for I don't know how long, and someone
has been posting that long, it doesn't take a genius to figure out they
are not a newbie.

Why not e-mail a person directly about these things then instead of
making it a public issue?

And, whether people can learn what not to take personally is also.
Many people for some unknown reason today take many things personally
which aren't. But, then, that can be learned by looking through any
major body of work about communication, discussion & debate & most
especially about online messaging. <G>

And, I don't recall mentioning any difficulty or facility or lack at

Nor does it matter. What is posted publicly is to the thread & may or
may not be specific to the last person who posted, or not.

Certainly at times private e-mail is an option according to the
discussion, however, in this instance in particular, public is better
because you can educate so many more people at once. This also is
known & understood to be a valued part of online messaging. However,
again, your POV is that somehow face would be saved, when face is not
an issue. We all make mistakes.

Bandwidth, the FAQs, etc. many of the things involved in this overall
line of thought.

Yes, I know. However, it seemed to be of some note to you that you
were putting a version out there with an intact header. This is
information that there was already one out there & so another one
fulfilled no particular purpose, no matter the intent. <G>

Of course, it's completel okay & it's not a waste of bandwidth. My
goodness. I keep being amazed at the things people who aren't newbies
don't know about the FAQs & RATS & Usenet, etc.
Snipping very little in hopes of avoiding unnecessary confusion.

Let me get this straight...
If I reply to a post to add a header, and keep the post intact it's
wasting bandwidth (depending on size of course.) However, if someone
ASKS that that post be reposted, it's ok to waste bandwidth?
It seems to be a double standard.
Now, I know you'll tell me I have it all wrong... So, show me where I am
misunderstanding things.

Newsgroup netiquette isn't my life. I try to memorize enough to get by
without daily pissing someone off, but as for all the technicalities, no
thanks. There are more important things to worry about IMHO.
Wait a second here, JAH ("just adding header") posts -- quoting the
whole post -- are a time-honored RATSA tradition! They let filterers see
the whole post the second time around.
The original objection in this case was quoting a whole post just to add
a line of response -- which has already been discussed to death in this
thread, no hard feelings to anyone.

Absolutely. There will always be NetCops. In some respects, they serve a
useful purpose. The best thing to do is let them slap you on the wrist and
move on. Arguing motives and semantics is of no use whatsoever.
If you aren't part of the solution, you're probably part of the problem.

Yes, I always thought so... And yes, I understand other's points of
view about why I should have snipped even though I was adding the
header. Please let's not go there again.

But then it evolved into the fact that I replied to kaci's post, which
was headerless, and since I was adding the header, I decided to leave
the post intact. I had stated in another post that I had read the
original post about snipping and didn't really need to be told myself,
but of course that sparked another round. It takes more than one person
to keep a thread going...
