I agree that Edmund and Maria should be thankful to Kelsey for agreeing
to give her baby to them for adoption. However, I also think that Kelsey
should be thankful to *them* for agreeing to adopt the baby! Kelsey is
the one who accidentally got pregnant, (Yes, Bobby was there too, but --
face it -- he is not the one who has the responsibility), who does not
want the baby, and who wants to put him up for adoption. Wouldn't a
mother giving up her baby prefer to know that she is giving the baby to
parents she knows will love and care for the baby well, to giving the
baby to an agency that will place the baby with unknown parents. (Don't
get me wrong, I think adoption can be a great situation for all involved,
and often anonymity is best, but Kelsey has never indicated that she has
any problem with knowing who her baby's parents were going to be).
I know that Kelsey is very young and, therefore, self-involved, but
surely she has enough sense to appreciate the fact that her baby will
have a good life with Maria and Edmund and that she (Kelsey) is fortunate
that they want to adopt her baby.

SL, ITA!!! The best strategy for Eddie and Maria at this point with
Kelsey "I'll sign the papers when *I* want to sign them" would be to
say:

"Kelsey, we're disappointed that this hasn't turned out the way we had
hoped, we would have loved Lil' Rodney Rugrat like our own, be we
understand your reluctance to give him up. We'd like to stay and let
you fantasize over Edmund some more, but we're late for our
appointment at the Adoption Center. Take care, now, ya hear. "

Would that it were this way - unfortunately Kelsey has never felt
appreciative for one moment - she is so self-engrossed that she doesn't
seem to even care about the future of the baby, only about getting "rid"
of it so her own future can begin. I can understand her not identifying
as a mother, but really, she did carry the baby for 9 months, the least
she could do is remind herself how lucky the baby will be. Since we know
her reasons for agreeing to breastfeed were totally insincere, even that
alleged desire to get the baby off to the best start is bogus. I find
her negative attitude somewhat false, actually - I mean, could someone be
so completely devoid of feeling for a life they carried?

Methinks she doth protest too much?
