well Randi did mention during one of her hospital visits after her
pimp beat her down that she had family in Puerto Rico, so they could
make her related to Carmen. She also could be an Puerto Rican with
African heritage (there are plenty of them) instead of black/white
biracial that many probably assumed she was.
I like the idea of some connection to Carmen, seeing as neither women
have any family connections right now. My guess is either cousins or
half sisters.

They seemed to be closer though based on the conversations that took
place in the Fusion bar. Randy saying Carmen was too trusting and
Randy not trusting at all, when it comes to men anyway.
BTW...haven't seen today's show....but it sure looked like Carmen was
gearing up for something with Adam yesterday. Blackmail, perhaps?
I jumped to the conclusion they knew each other from The Big House.
But I have absolutely nothing to base that on. :)

Ah, Dwib, I've gotta say it: spoken like a true guy! There is _definitely_
angry tension between those two, IMHO. My guess is that this is a late story
change, and so whatever is between the two of them won't make any sense to
us, the viewers, and is going to feel hastily cobbled together. I just don't
see Carmen and Randi running in the same crowd. Sadly, I think it'll be a
waste of Carmen. She's got potential, but Randi is just a big, gaping,
sucking hole of blah.

Weren't they whores together? I just naturally assumed Carmen was
turning tricks before going legit, but getting framed by her BF. But
those who said they knew e/o from time in prison is also possible.
I read in another soap forum that originally the plan was for Carmen
to be Randi's mother. Guess that would have meant Carmen and Erica had
another thing in common (early motherhood). However, apparently it was
decided to make them sisters instead.
I sense a Ryan and Jonathan-type situation where the older sibling got
of Dodge as soon as they could and the younger one left behind
suffered more because of it. It would make a lot of sense if Randi
turns out to have sexually abused as a child.

Well, they could easily be sisters. It seems that Carmen was a citizen of
Pine Valley, since she wound up in the same court as Erica. True, maybe
she only got arrested there. PV has a bad part of town. They could just be
old friends from the same neighborhood.

I don't get the idea at all that Carmen was a criminal and/or a hooker before
the thing with her boyfriend. She seems like an ordinary 'good girl,' lower
socio-economic variety, to me. At least, that's how the actress has been
playing it.
I really like Carmen and the actress playing her. Being related to
Randi will drag her down. Even if they are just from the same
neighborhood, they should sound a bit more alike, IMO. I haven't
heard even a trace of an accent in Randi's voice.
Lame, lame, lame.

Not all parents and children sound alike, especially, if the child is not
raised by the parent. My cousin's wife has a perfect BBC English accent,
and her father had a very distinct Scottish accent. Two of my cousins who
grew up in England sound nothing alike. One sounds AMerican, the other
British. Heck, after a week in London, even *I* start to sound British.
I agree with Aisling, there has been NO indication that Carmen was in
anyway a prostitute or "bad girl". In fact they played her as a
having been the victim of her criminal boyfriend robbing a bank and
her taking the fall because she was innocently sitting in the car
waiting for him. The only "bad girl" thing was her kidnapping of
Erica but that seemed to me to be more her desperation to pay back her
bf for screwing her over and leaving her to take the fall for
something she didn't do.
I kinda like the character and the actress seems fun. I hope she gets
a chance to develop.

It's like the key behind the photo in Fusion that Annie took out. When oh
when will we see where that leads.
