I asked this on another board, but I dont think anyone knew the answer so I'll
ask it here... Does anyone know why Kate Collins (Natalie Dillon) left the show
so abruptly back in the early 90s ? I think her last episode was the Explosion
at the house which caused the character to become blind for a few months. I
think Kate played Natalie on the typical Friday Finale with the explosion and
then Monday, another actress was on the emergency stretcher in the hospital....
. ( I forgot the name of the actress who played Natalie during that ordeal and
through the course of the "living" Natalie but I know she starred in the Movie
Flash Gordon ) Anyways, Kate was nominated for Best Actress after the
Janet/Natalie combination... What happened ???

On another note :
Mateo... what a guy huh? The psychic visions are a big stretch on this show,
but to have someone who'll go back into a coma for you, WOW! Either he is a
really great guy with a big heart.... Or he is completely Insane :-)

Kate Collins got married to someone who lived/worked in Chicago (I think)
and she quit the show to be with him.

And as far as Mateo -- let's not go there. I hate this storyline.

Kathy :-)

She didn't leave all that abruptly -- Roscoe Born left abruptly! Kate gave
notice. The reason she left is that her husband, Charles Newell, was
offered a plum job: artistic director of the Court Theatre at the University
of Chicago. It was really an offer he couldn't refuse. So Kate and
her husband relocated. In fact, there was an interview with her in
the Chicago _Sun Times_ just this past Sunday, about local celebrities
in the Chicago area (Taylor "Nina Courtland" Miller was also featured).

Charles and Kate have two children and live near Christine and me. In
November, she'll be starring in a Court production of "Nora," a reinter-
pretation of Ibsen's _Dollhouse_.

She recuperated from her blindness one Christmas when Timmy brought an angel home
for the Christmas tree. I think Nat died in a car accident after having a fight
with Trevor about whether Laurel was a con artist or not.

Oh I know all of that information :-) I was wondering what had happened to the
original actress who played Natalie Dillon for a few years on the show. She was
nominated for an Emmy award for Best actress, lost, and before we knew it, a
new actress popped up. And yes Natalie Died in the car crash with Adam Chandler
in the car after the Laurel incident. Actually she didn't die "right away"...
She was brought to the hospital, but there wasn't anything more the doctors
could do aside from keeping her alive with Machines. So after alot of hard
convincing from his family and friends, Trevor had them "pull the plug" on her.

But as far as others have stated , Kate left for her husband so I guess that
answers my question. Thanks anyways for your help as well as to the others! :)

Really? What is your source for this piece of information?

You know, I get monumentally tired of hearing this rumor, and I've yet to
see it backed up by anything approaching information or fact.

Look at it this way: if you had a job for seven years, put in your time
and turned in a top (award-winning) performance, and left because your
husband was offered a mouth-watering position in another city, wouldn't
you be tremendously pissed if people kept insinuating that the "real"
reason you left was because you couldn't get along with a co-worker,
one you'd been working with for THREE YEARS prior to the job change?

I think it's insulting to suggest that Collins is so unprofessional that
she would allow personal animosity to interfere with her ability to
do her job. It also insults my intelligence to hint that an actor
could spend YEARS working with another actor in a storyline that
involves close personal contact and then leave because they didn't
like working with their colleague.

I've been working for 30 years, and there have been people in my work
environment that I get along with better than others. I have also made
some relocation choices over the years. I would be enormously offended
if someone tried to suggest (behind my back, no less) that the "real,
inside" reason I made those choices was because of my inability to get
along with my co-workers.

I've already posted my first person report. I won't repeat it. There's
always Deja News. You can look up what Aunt Phoebe had to say
on the subject, same thread.

I have never heard any suggestion that Collins was unprofessional.
I do remember the very uncomfortable looking love scenes, however.

---Carolyn (who's left a job because of a co-worker, and doesn't consider
that unprofessional. I considered it good judgment, and that next
opportunity looked mighty appealing because of it.) Adams
