Hightail it to a bookstore that still has a copy of
"General Hospital - The Complete Scrapbook" (or your
neighborhood library). There are reams of backstory
on Lucy... She was raised by her Aunt Charlene, but
we don't yet know what happened to her birth parents.
When Lucy first appeared in Port Charles (on GH), she
was a mousy librarian by day, who turned into a sexy
vixen by night. She was having an affair with a
young doctor who had been on a murdering spree, and
Lucy ended up writing a best-selling book about it.
Yes, Aunt Charlene, her son Colton, and Lucy did,
indeed, live in trailers, and were very poor. But,
Lucy always aspired to bigger and better checkbook
balances, and did everything and anything she could
to marry into money. She married Dr. Tony Jones after
Tony's first wife, Tania, died. Lucy also married
Dr. Alan Quartermaine. Afraid she was losing Alan to
his ex-wife Monica, Lucy told Alan she was pregnant
with his child. Since she wasn't pregnant, she had to
do something about that.... she ended up pregnant by
Scotty, but miscarried very late in the pregnancy (it
would actually be referred to as a stillbirth, rather
than a miscarriage). Somewhere along the line she
had a one-night stand with Jake Meyer when Jake was
married to Bobbie, and Lucy ended up pregnant. Bobbie
and Jake were going to adopt the baby, but Lucy had a
miscarriage.
Lucy and Scotty had always had an on-again, off-again
relationship. When she was in love with him, he was
in love with someone else. When Scotty was in love
with her, she was up to some scheme where she was
"after someone else."
Lucy left town for a while, right after she and Scotty
realized they were in love with each other at the same
time. But, Lucy had been offered a "deal of a lifetime"
to make big bucks in some scheme by some guy, so off
she went. While she was gone, Scotty and Dominique
got married and fell in love (in that order). When Lucy
returned to town, she thought that she could pick up
where she left off with Scotty. Even when she found out
that Scotty was married, she was undeterred. That is,
until she got to know Dominique. Dom was the first woman
who accepted and like Lucy for herself, and she was the
only person who was able to get Lucy to like herself.
Lucy truly became a better person because of Dominique.
Then, it was discovered that Dom had a malignant brain
tumor. Dom and Scotty wanted to have a child, and had
been planning on it just prior to finding out about Dom's
tumor. Dominique wanted to be able to give Scotty a
child before she died, but she knew they would need a
surrogate. Scotty agreed, but nearly came unglued when
Dom announced that she had chosen Lucy!!
So, the embryo that was created by Dominique's egg and
Scotty's sperm was implanted into Lucy, and Lucy eventually
gave birth to Serena. Serena was kidnapped shortly
after her birth, by thugs who were after the $100 million
that Scotty inherited from Dominique. Scotty took Serena
and disappeared (they ended up in Canada).
A few years earlier, however, Lucy had created a new
perfume, which she named "Deception." It was a huge
success. Eventually, though, she lost the company to
Katherine Bell. Very soon thereafter, however, she became
the proud new owner of Jacks Cosmetics.
Lucy became involved with Dr. Kevin Collins, and got him
through some very rough times. Right as the new show PC
got started, Lucy found out she was pregnant with Kevin's
baby. They were estatic... but she miscarried. (And
in this poster's opinion, two of Lynn Herring's greatest
performances were the episodes when she gives birth to
Serena, and when she miscarries Kevin's baby.)

Nobody does tragedy as well as Lynn Herring!

This was before she became involved with Tony (or Alan) while (I believe) Jake
was protecting Lucy after the Kevin O'Connor trial (the murderous doctor --
hey, another "Doc Kevin" that Lucy was involved with). She became pregnant
with Jake's child just as Jake and Bobbie were looking for a surrogate mother
so they could have a baby (Bobbie being unable to have a child because of her
hysterectomy after she miscarried Brock's child). So Lucy agreed to allow
Bobbie and Jake to adopt her baby. Meanwhile, she moved in with Tony Jones to
take care of his daughter, BJ, who was a toddler at the time. While living
with Tony, she manipulated him into marrying her. And so forth.

Don't forget her reaction to BJ's death. Truly heartbreaking.

The big question should be how does Donut-ella know about Lucy's background
If you are a new Port Charles follower it woun't take you long to find out
that Lucy
was an original slut. (sort of) . Her previous past with Scotty is a story
in it self
(One item no one has ever mentioned was Victors diamonds, the last I saw
them
they were in the bottom of Scotts aquarium.) But with out going on forever
there
are the previous Husbands and on & on . She definitly has a history and it
is
a great one

I think it's partly Courtney's biased scoop, partly her phone
contact's quick research in the newspaper files. Her reference to
Lucy's finding Scott's $100 million attractive shows that she has
little real information; Scott doesn't have $100M, it's in trust for
Serena. Furthermore, if she did any real fact-checking, she would
have access to Jax Cosmetic's balance sheet, which, for reasons that
escape me, is healthy. (Don must really earn his paycheck!)

This may sound just like a Lucy Coe non sequiter but I
*just* this second realized that this is when Lynn Herring
played Liselle Gardner on DOOL.

So does this place her at what age? Hmmm. In 85 she was 22? 38?

Parents had money, bought Lucy from baby stealer, squandered money and
died, leaving Lucy to be raised by trailer trash aunt - Lucy is Rae's
daughter!
I truly believe Rae;s daughter is going to be from PC so that all the
soaps get included in the contractual soap spanning trot of Rae's (She
still has to hit PC) - and this takes care of it neatly as Lucy is the
correct age ( IMHO, Eve is too young) as well as being a character GH is
well aquatinted with.
Lucy would also be a good fit as Myrtle's granddaughter.
