Where does this reference come from? Is it some Minnesota
local lore, or just the insidest of inside jokes?

And, am I spelling "woozle" correctly? Or is it woozul?
Woozel?

Help! I can't sleep!

You're spelling it correctly. Peanut the Woozle is the
ventriloquist's dummy of a rather good ventriloquist whose name I can't
remember. I assume that he's fairly friendly with the folks behind the
show, since they use Peanut's name all the time--without making fun.

Jeff Dunham, I believe, or something like that.

I dunno...I always had the impression they put him in the
Gallaghter/Carrotop/Geechy Guy category.

Peanut was this purple, goofy-looking ventriloquist dummy. The woozle
made the television rounds with his ventriloquist about 7-10 years ago.
Not sure if the voice-thrower is still performing.

Right. Same guy, if I remember right, that brought you the jalepeno
pepper on a stick.

Dunno. I don't think the show put him down as much as they did with
Gallagher (for the reason given in the FAQ). I had always thought that
it was more good-natured jabbing then anything else, and the two were on
pretty good terms.

Of course, I can't speak for Joel or BBI....

Yep, same guy.

Okay, dumb question: where is this FAQ?
And I had thought it was fairly good natured ribbing myself. The
main thrust of it, after all, seems to be just calling everything a Woozle
named Peanut.
Now the Sinbad jokes ("Women be different than men") seem a little
less good-natured.

I was baby-sitting not all that long ago, and one of the videos the kids
watched was a Winnie-the Pooh Adventures video that included a long
seqeunce in which Pooh drems about "ephalumps and woozles" if I recall
correctly (it wasn't all that recently either...) I don't know what
relation if any this has to the ventriloquist's woozle whose name was
Peanut, though. Just FWIW.

and if you like that reference, and your anxious to find out where more
of them came from, try the "-mikeyboy" MST page, where you'll find the

Just played the Brea Improv (30-some miles out of LA).

I missed the show.

I believe it is from Jeff Dunham and his Woozle named Peanut. Jeff is a
vetrilaquist (sp) who has a stuffed puppet named Peanut.

I am not sure of his relationship with MST3K (Although I now know why Joel
hates Gallager so much - And I can't blame him).
