I hit a used book store that was going out of business, and since they
were abotu 30 cents each I got a couple of movie adaptation books, one of
which I know was a MSTie, the other one I think was, but can't recall.
First the sure thing:

Phase IV! From the back cover, "Is there a creature who could challenge
man's supremacy on earth[sic]? The answer came one hot day in the Arizona
desert when a horde of ants turned a thriving city into a ghost town. Then
it was only a matter of time until the final confrontation. The terrible
battle pitted the human race against a formidable insect civilization that
far surpassed Man's paltry brain and weapons!"
The conceit behind the title was that we start with Phase I, then go to
Phase II, etc until things get Really Bad in Phase IV. And no, these aren't
giant ants, either. Just swarms of hyperintelligent normal-sized ants.
Gosh, scary.

The other is Moon Zero Two, your basic rubber-suit-and-large-spherical-
helmet space mining drama. "SPACE BELONGS TO THE RICH" screams the header on
the back cover. It then continues in all caps, "Giant corporations control
the colonies on the Moon and Mars. Travel is limited to a few sade 'milk
runs.' Exploration is ended -- perhaps forever. But one maverick pilot,
Bill Kemp, still dreams of reaching the outer planets beyond the Asteroid
Belt. Even though his leaky space-ferrt is condemned and the corporations
are trying to have him grounded, Kemp has a plan -- a bold plan that will
change the very shape of the Solar System and catapult him to Jupiter and
beyond!" Starring James Olson, Catherine Von Schell and Warren Mitchell
(Mitchell!). And it has lunar forklifts.

Dave Van Domelen, also got "How To Attract The Wombat"....

Ouch! That stung my puzzler as the memories of this movie fester to the surface.
I saw this movie on TV, in the 70's I think. At whatever young age I was at I
found this movie a little interesting, maybe on the level of a last season
episode of the "Six Million Dollar Man," or "Space: 1999."

As in the third verse of a parody of "Gimmie That Old Time Religion" I
saw in a fortune file once? The one that goes:

In the church of Aphrodite
The priestess wears a see-through Knightie,
She's a mighty righty sighty
And she's good enough for me!

(Well, okay, maybe the "Knightie" part didn't actually have a "K"
on the front.)

Both are MST3K episodes. "Phase IV" was Episode K09, and "Moon Zero
Two" was Episode 111.

As I would later come to interpret the movie, the four phases were the
Ants' plan, not the humans'. Although the humans may have also had
similar aspirations, they didn't finish the experiment. The Ants did.
And the Ants, supposedly being more intellegent now, were putting the
humans through a test of sorts. Being more intellegent, they also sought
to incorporate humans into their plan, rather than exterminate man as
humans so often do to them. But that's difficult stuff to bring across
in a low budget movie (without getting too talkie). That is, low budget
compared to a Spielberg movie. It really wasn't that bad a story, just
suffering from too little film stock. I think they blew all the money on
the big silver dome. So it was edited too short to really explain it
all, clearly. Or maybe it was intended to be slightly vague, but the
results was too much so. It would have been better if it had the same
budget and length as The Andromeda Strain. MST#72737

I DO have problems, man. My landlord is a parasite on Pyllosan, I've
just had a BIG falling out with some buddies, I've got a dull-wit
dead-end job and everyone thinks I'm nuts cuz I see shadows in the rain.

And to think all this time I've been running downstairs to spin my old
LPs. Cheater! (;8^}=

You will see light in the darkness
You will make some sense of this
You will see joy in this sadness
You will find this love you miss

(As a result of this exercise, I'm becoming convinced that "Voices Inside
My Head" was the best thing the Police ever recorded. Strangely, it also
has the fewest lyrics of any non-instrumental.)

He tries his best, yes, but he's got me wrapped around his finger,
hypnotizing me if I linger because he thinks that will get rid of
