RiffTrax says http://www.rifftrax.com/announcement/53850l it has
apparently been trying to convince NetFlix to add its pre-synched
video-on-demand titles, such as łVoodoo Man,˛ łPlan 9 From Outer Space,˛
łManiac˛ and the Shorts collections, onto its popular Watch Instantly
service and having no luck.
For reasons that pass understanding, considering that MST3K episodes are
pretty popular selections on Watch Instantly, the NetFlix honchos say
they doubt the VOD titles have łthey donąt think our DVDs have enough
łqueue demand.˛
The RiffTrax folks are asking NetFlix members who want to be able to
stream those titles to show your interest by going here
http://www.netflix.com/Search?v1=rifftrax and adding some or all of
RiffTraxąs titles to your DVD rental queue. On Twitter, you can send a
nice message to @Netflix and @Netflixhelps to let them know youąd love
to have them add RiffTrax titles to Watch Instantly.

MORRO BAY, Calif.Jack LaLanne, the seemingly eternal master of health
and fitness who first popularized the idea that Americans should work
out and eat right to retain youthfulness and vigor, died at his home
here Sunday, Jan. 23, of respiratory failure due to pneumonia. He was 96.
MSTies will remember that he can be seen and heard on a monitor at the
TV station shown in the movie in episode K16- CITY ON FIRE.
His New York Times obit is here.

commenter Amelik has provided us with a translation of the theme song:
In a science institute, thereąs an experiment,
Theyąre testing the effect of movie reels on people.
How will consciousness be affected by a movie.
Of questionable quality and made long ago
A nice guy, Stephen is in need of some money
He got a job as a test subject, threw caution to the wind
He didnąt know that the process is supervised by
Professor Zamishlavkin, a bad guy [something]
Stephen watches movies, heąs now imprisoned
If itąs wasnąt for his friends, heąd be miserable
Mutants, saboteurs: a dog and a penguin
Rescue his psychie and watch along with him
:::Fidel::: [penguin's name]
:::Ketchup::: [dog's name]
:::the greatest achievement of national defense!:::
When the friends are all together, they donąt fear the bad guy
They make comments on everything, so that itąs more fun
In the face of scientific theories,
They giggle and laugh, as they watch Project Popcorn

LAS VEGASRubber-faced comedian Charlie Callas died at a care center
here Thursday, Jan. 27. He was 86.
In addition to being mentioned in riffs a number of times, MSTies will
remember that his trademark jerky stage persona was put to good use in
the łCharlie Callas massager,˛ an invention exchange in episode 320- THE
UNEARTHLY.

It's not a real product, unfortuntely, but Frank was among the actors
who did a commercial for "My4squarealibi."

Have you ever wanted to crochet your own chibi Tom Servo? Hereąs how.

Think nobody remembers MST3K? In the 24 hours following the end of the
Super Bowl, this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iqLhdInGrk was
the number one shared video on the internet.

MST3K popped up on the Web sites of two unlikely publications today:
Forbes
http://blogs.forbes.com/davidewalt/2011/02/10/the-men-behind-the-mst3k-ro
bots/ (where, as youąll see in the comments, I helped straighten out
some confusion) and Out (not that thereąs anything wrong with it!).

Our pal Aaron, aka łLazlow˛ at laidoffproductions.com, has scored an
interview with Joel when Cinematic Titanic comes to his town of Mesa,
Ariz., in March, and heąs asking for suggestions for questions he could
ask Joel.
For more information, see his vlog entry here.

And by the way, thereąs lots of wacky video on the site, including his
video MST3K episode commentary (heąs just about through the KTMA
season). Check it out.
