Our friends at Shout! Factory say that bootlegs of Volume XX (thatąs the
one with episodes 109- PROJECT MOON BASE, 322- MASTER NINJA I, 324-
MASTER NINJA II and 505- MAGIC VOYAGE OF SINBAD) are being sold on ebay
and Amazon and they are crappy. Theyąre telling us:
From the outside they look very accurate, but if someone buys a
copy łNew˛ from Ebay or an Amazon Marketplace seller, here are the tell
tale signs:
· The set is flimsily shrink wrapped instead of our standard
factory sealed shrink wrap
· The Master Ninja movies have the wrong films on the discs. The
disc that says Master Ninja 1 has #2 and vice versa.
· Some copies of Project Moonbase have Magic Voyage of Sinbad on it.
· If you look closely at the legal lines on the discs, especially
the Master Ninja discs, there are numerous spelling errors.
If someone has purchased a bootleg they should demand a full refund
from the seller and report them.
Word to the wise!
Our pal Jean Jackson whoąs spent the last few minutes moving her łMST3K
Prints˛ online store from a personal web site to an ebay store, has
completed the move and is once again advertising with us. See the ad at
the right. Great stuff, and great gifts for the MSTies in your life!

It looks like RiffTrax is going to take another run at putting on an
online show, again using the UStream system. On Friday they presented
łBaconCam.˛ Next Friday, Oct. 21, itąs łVodka tasting, Live from
RiffTrax HQ!˛ Clearly both of these shows are practice runs, making sure
they can work out any problems before Friday, Oct. 28, when they plan a
łHalloween Double-feature Marathon.˛ More info on the Oct. 28 as we get
it.

RIP Betty Luster
About four months ago, a brief notice in the West Palm Beach, Florida,
newspapers noted the passing of Betty L. Prentis. She was 89. She was
mostly known as the widow of Edmund łNed˛ Prentis III. The two were fond
of big game hunting, fishing and łworld class croquet˛ according to one
report (he died in 1997). Close friends noted that Betty had a career as
a dancer before she married.
She did indeed.
Prentis, in her show biz days, performed on Broadway and television. And
in 1956, in one of her final performances, Luster was hired to play the
title character in a promotional film sponsored by the musical
instrument manufacturer C. G. Conn. Thirty-five years later, that
performance was discovered by the creators łMystery Science Theater
3000,˛ and the legend of Mr. B. Natural was born.
Born in 1922, Betty Luster grew up in New Jersey where, in 1937, she won
a local beauty contest. That success apparently brought her to London,
where she spent several years as a showgirl with the Dorchester Hale
dance troupe. In 1939 she appeared in an early television broadcast on
the fledgling BBC Television.
By 1940 she was back in the U.S., dancing in the Broadway production of
Irving Berlinąs łLouisiana Purchase.˛ She was a showgirl in Miami Beach
in the mid 1940s, and later appeared in an opera.
Luster served as co-hostess of the 1950 CBS game show łSing It Again,˛ a
progenitor to łName That Tune,˛ where contestants would attempt to
identify songs from just a few notes. She also appeared on the
short-lived NBC variety show łSeven at Eleven.˛ In 1955 she was back on
Broadway in łThe Wayward Saint,˛ which closed after a few weeks.
Luster was a successful TV station programming consultant for several
years until she met and married Prentis, when she retired.
Thanks to commenter łCreeping Terror,˛ who alerted us that Betty passed
away May 25th of this year.
