Plays for 2 women

Hi we are 2 actreses searching for challenging and inteligent 2 hander
plays.

We'd like to find a mix of humour, drama and some social stuff with a
good story line.
Please can someone advise us?

The only suitable play I have heard of (but have not seen) is
"Collected Stories" by Donald Margulies.
It ran off Broadway and in London about ten years ago but was not
well received.

We did "Collected Stories" a few years ago (April of 2002) and it was quite
well received (http://www.no-strings.org/stories.htm). IMHO, it is a much
stronger play than "Dinner with Friends" for which he won all sorts of
awards.

You are certainly right that 2 handers for women are pretty rare. I did a
DPS play finder search and found only 9 full length plays from among the
zillion that they publish.

Of the 5 plays from the group that I know, only one, Yard Girls, has 2 equal
aged young (teen) girls. Two have different aged women (Collected Stories
is professor/student and Night Mother is mother/daughter). The remaining 2
require specific age and/or ethnicity in the characters (Having our say is 2
elderly black women and one of the characters in Going to St. Ives is
black). Slim pickings indeed!

Night Mother is the best two woman play I've ever read.

Yes, "Night Mother" is fantastic.

One set, takes place in real time - ie you have a working clock on the wall.

Moving and funny.
