Hello Everyone-
This question is probably a little basic for all the knowledgable
perople in this group, but I'm trying to get as much input as
possible. I'm trying to get a list of stage & screen musicals with a
Christmas theme, or at least have a Christmas song or two in them. I'm
not a purist, so any musical, be it Broadway, Off-Broadway, West End,
or original film musical is fine for me.

I have, of course:

White Chriastmas
Holiday Inn
Sound of Music

I know Judy Garland was in some MGM musicals that had a Christmas
Element to them, but I'm not sure what they were. Can anyone help?
What other titles spring to mind?

Thanks everyone for your input.

"Meet Me in St. Louis" starred Judy Garland on film, in which she sang "Have
yourself a merry little Christmas", and the show was transferred to stage in
the 1990's.

MAME has "We need a little christmas"

the musical HERE's LOVE is the stage version of Miracle on 34th St.

I'm not sure how Sound of Music qualifies, except that everyone likes to watch
it at Christmas because it's a family show. I don't remember any actual
Christmas songs.

Well at least one of the Garland movies was Meet Me in St. Louis - "Have
Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

Without thinking too much about this, there's also Here's Love and
Subways Are for Sleeping which contain Christmas material. I am curious,
though, where Christmas figures into The Sound of Music.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS sells a number of Christmas (or
holiday) oriented CDs sung by cabaret and Broadway artists. You would
probably be interested in these discs -- check out especially A Broadway
Christmas and Cabaret NOEL. http://www.bcefa.org/

Wasn't the puppet theater they got from Uncle Max a Christmas present?
Or was it just a special gift?

PROMISES, PROMISES has several songs. IRMA LA DOUCE ends with "The
Christmas Child." And don't forget SCROOGE, THE STINGIEST MAN IN TOWN
and all the other CHRISTMAS CAROL musicals. (Plus the IT'S A WONDERFUL
LIFE musicals.) And TV to stage items, such as Jule Styne's DANGEROUS
CHRISTMAS OF RED RIDING HOOD with Liza, Cyril, Vic Damone and "the
Animals."

> Annie,

The movie Annie from 1982 wasn't a christmas movie. but the one abc did a few
years ago was since it was truer to the broadway version.. the older movie took
place around july 4th.
