Does anyone know if the offers Playbill On Line has in the members only
sections are the same as TKTS? They offer "Peter Pan" for $45, which
seems like a better deal than waiting on line in the heat. Any
comments?

You also have to take into consideration that if you call tickmaster to use
the Playbill online code, you'll most likely have to pay a handling fee.

You could always go to the TKTS booth in the World trade center. It's inside
and the lines aren't as long.

Marcia,

I'm not sure but I think it depends on the show. I saw "Not About
Nightengales" using their half off offer and paid the same as TKTS by taking
the offer to the box office. If you order by phone remember you'll be
paying sevice charges on top of the offered price. Personally, I tend to
use Playbill offers (and a few other discount services) because I live 2 1/2
from NYC and like to be sure of what I'm seeing when I go in to catch a show
which I can't always do when I use TKTS. Because of this I don't mind
paying the additional service charges.

TKTS has a service charge, as well. I can use the playbill offer at the
box office of the theater, too, right? I do see that, at least for
PETER PAN, it's only good for certain performances. I guess I'll take
it with me, and figure it out when I get there!

Thanks,

Marcia

There are advantages and disadvantages to both, Marcia:

TKTS offers most tickets at 50% off the highest ticket price, plus a $2.50
service charge. They have a larger selection of shows. On the other hand,
you have to stand in line, they accept only cash and travelers cheques and
the seat selection is usually not that great.

Playbill usually offers less than a 50% discount and requires that you pay a
larger service charge if you order over the phone. But you can go directly
to the theater box office and avoid the surcharge, and the available seats
are usually better.

The show selection at TKTS changes daily, depending on how many seats are
already sold for each show. In my opinion, if you have several days to
spend in New York, and are not picky about what you see or where you sit,
this is an excellent and inexpensive way to see shows.

Good luck on your trip.

Thanks for the information. I will probably keep the Playbill info in
my purse, and check out the TKTS line, as well. I really don't know how
many nights I will have free to go to the theater, since we do have
other plans...hard to believe, I know! :-) Anyway, I'm looking forward
to my trip.

Whats different about Playbill discount tickets is that they give you a code to
use when going ticketmaster or telecharge and you can order you tickets and
find out the seats that are available without having to go to tkts the last
minute.
