Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady is the ultimate role for a soprano, me
thinks.
Belle from BatB would be nice too, it looks like such a fun role to play!
And Eponine of Les Mis, only I wouldn't like the whole dying business
very much.

To all the professional, non-professional, and just for fun
preformers out there, what characters would you most like to play. Any
reason for choosing a character is valid, from a technical chalange or
a powerful liberetto to just being a part you can ham up. My personal
favorite parts to play would be:
Chris from "Miss Saigon"
Judas from "Jesus Christ Superstar"
El Gallo from "The Fantastiks"

What are your favorite roles?

Romance," and Rachel York's character WhatsHerName in "City of

I'm old aand/or decrepit!

Ella Peterson - Bells Are Ringing
Miss Adelaide - Guys and Dolls
Eve - The Apple Tree

Mother - The Human Comedy
Judy Denmark - Ruthless
Miss Primrose - (if only to sing Repent) - On the Twentieth Century
Fantine - Les Mis

Well, that's a start.

I would absolutely KILL to play The Baker's Wife in ITW. It's
not so far fetched, since the role fits my voice PERFECTLY. I
just have to find a company that's doing it at a time I can get
involved..oh, yeah, and there's that little detail called an
audition...

I can dream...

--Melinda

P.S. I'd also settle for The Witch in the same show. Also
Adelaide in Guys and Dolls. Or Ado Annie (for which I'm
getting too old now). Oh, and Rizzo from Grease. I'll
probably think of another soon, but I'll let somebody else have
a turn now. :-)

By default, it would have to be Chris, "Miss Saigon"
Also, Cornelius, "Hello, Dolly!"

The role that I would most like to perform , would be the Baker's Wife.
From the musical, "The Baker's Wife". The song that most caught my
attention was the song entitled " Meadowlark" The song is enchanting and
spellbounding. You can imagine a blind meadowlark with her king in the
kingdom surrounded by beautiful things.. all these things she can not see,
but she knows that the exsist. Then the God of the Sun hear's her singing
by the water and he offers her the gift of sight.. if she only flies with
him. But in the end.. she decides not to go with the God and the king
comes down to the water to find that his meadowlark has died. It's a song
worth checking out and is an excellent choice for an audition piece.
