WRONG AGAIN asshole!!! I don't even subscribe to that NG!! LOL!! You are a
FUCKING MORON!!

Come on lefties on this NG. Where are you? Jump to Stevie's defense here.
He needs your help!
TWICE in the past week and a half or so, this guy has started threads on
this board that have NOTHING to do with musical theater and NOTHING to do
with any political position, but are COMPLETELY set up to encourage PERSONAL
ATTACKS on individuals who post on this NG!! Individuals who frequently
disagree with Stevie. Stevie can't stand it when he is constantly LOSING
arguments here, so he tries these other tactics. And makes an ASS out of
himself in the process!!
Can you picture him now? Sitting in his parent's basement in his tightie
whities, his fat hairy belly catching the crumbs of cheese doodles he stuffs
into his face, belching from the 2-liter bottle of PEPSI he guzzzles, and
surfing the net and the NGs, looking through web pages, using his daddy's
credit card to subscribe to people-finder services so he can "expose" people
who he keeps losing arguments with.

Has anyone ever wondered what this NG would be like if the two STEVES were
not here, spewing their vile all over the place?
Think about it! How many "musical theater" fans have they driven from this
NG with their petty bitchiness and snivelly threads? You want to know what
killed this NG as far as musical theater is concerned then look to these two
individuals.
I have fond memories of decent people on this NG who knew how to discuss
musical theater without the hateful, snide little remarks from the 2 steves.
And when the occasional political thread came up, these folks could discuss
things in a civil manner then as well. I still recall the times when I was
a civil person posting on this NG and getting uncivil responses from the
likes of these two.
So go ahead. Defend this thread and the previous "mikey and eagle" thread
that Stevie started.
How about if I start a thread entitled STEVE NEWPORT and post "Steve Newport
is dog shit eating moron........DISCUSS" How would THAT go over ??
Come on you lefties on this NG. Defend this guy!

so, I see this group is turning into the same sophomoric name-calling
insane asylum as such groups as rec.music.opera, which I joined for a
short time and left, because I couldn't deal with the childishness. I
hate to see this group go a similar route. Please stop.

Valuable? Valuable?

I, too, am distressed by the plethora of posts we've been getting
lately devoted to the behavior of Steve Newport,

but it's clear we reap what Steve sows.

When, day after day, he's devoted post after post to insulting
individuals, name-calling, lying about people, sharing his paranoid
fantasies about others' multiple identities, and sharing his sexual
fantasies - all of which no one cares to read about - RATHER than
posting comments about musicals (and does the Double Feature thread
really count as commenting?), it's no surprise some mud is slung back
his way.

If, instead of posting insults and lies, Newport confined himself to
posts about musicals, then this newsgroup would be what he and so many
of us want it to be: an on-going exchange of opinions about shows and
their scores. The quantity of complaints about Steve, here, don't
come close to equaling the quantity of posts BY Steve that sling mud
and complain about others. I wish neither existed, but they're likely
to go on until he changes his ways.

That MIGHT be a good beginning. However, for those of us who have been here
for around ten years (like me), we know that even when posting On Topic
(musicals) Steve Newport and Stephen Farrow were still wallowing in
negativity, posting bitchy, snide comments. Others joined them in their
bitchiness, but many of them are gone. The two Steves are still here and
their incredibly negative personalities (in addition to some other posters)
set the tone on this NG.

Yes, it will show whether others are as determined to be destructive to
this newsgroup for anywhere near as long as you've been determined to be
destructive to rec.arts.tv (and this group too, seemingly).

Robert Bouton sure summed up the situation beautifully:

From http://hollywood-elsewhere.com/2008/07/scratch_him.php --

"I'll always admire and respect Voight's better performances (Luke in
Coming Home, Reynolds in Enemy of the State, Ed in Deliverance, Howard
Cosell in Ali, Manny in Runaway Train, FDR in Pearl Harbor, Jack in
Desert Bloom, Paul Serone in Anaconda). And he's obviously entitled to
say and write whatever he wants. But it's only natural that industry-
based Obama supporters will henceforth regard him askance. Honestly?
If I were a producer and I had to make a casting decision about hiring
Voight or some older actor who hadn't pissed me off with an idiotic
Washington Times op-ed piece, I might very well say to myself,
'Voight? Let him eat cake.'"

No, nobody (certainly no "tolerant" liberal) would ever hold someone's

The really funny thing about this is that if you do a Google Groups search
of that name and actually read some of his posts, they are NOTHING like
mine. Perhaps we share the same political ideology, I'm not sure as I only
read a handful of his posts. But, the complete ABSENCE of caps for emphasis
MIGHT have given Stevie a clue. But then, Stevie couldn't get a clue if it
bit him on the ass!!

I guess it is just difficult for Stevie to think that there are more
conservatives out there than he originally thought. At first he thought
that ALL right-wing posts on ALL newsgroups were being posted by the same
two or three people. Think of the shock he must be experiencing!!

As Pauline Kael famously said: "Nixon can't have won; no one I know
voted for him."

This boob's logic defies all reason.

I popped up here "suddenly and conveniently" because Newport idiotically
and illogically accused me of being an alterego of two other posters
here. He lured me here, simple as that. If someone accused YOU of
claiming to have leukemia in another newsgroup, wouldn't you be curious
what the heck he was talking about?

And his equally disingenuous argument "When you continually lie about
who you ARE, why should anyone believe anything you say" only makes
sense if it's a given that I'm not these other posters here. Which it
isn't. He is the one who's lying here, pretending that it's some obvious
fact that I'm these other two posters in disguise. Even though our
posting habits are totally different, beyond all of us reacting to his
willful obnoxiousness (imagine that). This "calvin" is one of most
notorious right-wing windbags around (I've seen a pile of his posts in
film newsgroups), and yet no one could find even *one* right-wing post
written by me. It's hard enough to even find a post from me which is
political at all. And I've even said that I'm not a conservative, since
having this accusation thrown at me.

If you want to talk about "lying" and "nasty games," why doesn't Sieve
talk about how he managed to engineer an indignant 28-post thread here
based on an offensive "cultural radar" thought which he 100% *invented*
for me? I know this happened months ago, but I didn't find out about it
until the last couple of days! Boy, were you folks suckered.

More of this inveterate troll's dishonesty: Saying I "pose as a hater of
theatre" in the TV newsgroup. I'm not much interested in theater, but
I'm not a "hater" of it. What I *do* hate is him belligerently,
maliciously inflicting a constant stream of pointless theater references
over there (hunting through every post for actor names, just in the
hopes of attaching trivial "Tony-nominated"/"appeared on Broadway
in..."/"I saw him in...." scrawls, etc.), purely because he wants to
"punish" and annoy the outside world who doesn't share his overwhelming
fixation. Just as he also incessantly seeks to offend people with a
variety of other preferences, such as conservative politics, sports,
science fiction, modern rock, eating meat, trim physiques, etc. If you
don't share Sieve's exact value set, LOOK OUT.

I'm trying to understand, really I am:

What is your "legitimate beef" with fake or duplicate names?

I don't remember the names Ludlow, Pizzaman or Bushwhacker bothering
you. And, correct me if I'm wrong: you've used duplicate names over
the years.

As to my name, you've posted about it 400 times in the past two years,
despite being told repeatedly (most recently by Jeanne) that nobody
cares. If that's not "obsession," what is?

You and I and some others share a wish: We wish people would post
about musicals. I try to make my wish come true by posting about
musicals as often as I can, and refraining from commenting on
politics. (And I LOVE politics.) You, getting in the way of your
stated goal, post on politics. You start threads telling people to go
away You lie about people, such as your unsupported contention that
Ronnie Bateman said musicals were off the cultural radar somewhere.
You announce that you're killfiling and then don't. So much of what
you do seems designed to pick fights, to make people hate you, to goad
people into making posts that have nothing to do with musicals.

I'm far more puzzled than angry.

I can see that defending lame ducks is, to some degree, pointless. I
find Rocky Horror, the stage show, also unworthy of much comment. In
telling us you want to see a hard-core film of it, assumedly
explicitly showing the homosexual and heterosexual acts the show
depicts with a certain delicacy, you're revealing WAY more about
yourself than you were asked to. I know what you mean when you use
the phrase "legitimate beef" and simply asked you to explain what this
beef is.
