it was a very popular show and the commercials always
ran on TV.
Any help identifying this show would be appreciated.
The show was called Gemini.

Take care of the sense, and the sounds will take care of themselves.

The play was GEMINI by Albert Innaurato. GEMINI and Innaurato's
other plays are published by Dramatists Play Service. Since you
remember that commercial I gather you live in the New York area.
You can find the scripts at the Drama Book Shop in the Times
Square area. Their phone number is 212-944-0595.
You can find more information about GEMINI by visiting our web
site -- www.dramatists.com.

The show was GEMINI, and served as a springboard for Danny Aiello.
Aiello played an Italian-American working-class widower with a
son who is celebrating his 21st(?) birthday and is confused as to his
sexual identity, among other things.
The "I'm not hungry..." line was given by Aiello's lady friend (could
it have been Barbara Coggin?), and the "Take human bites!" was said
by Aiello's neighbor to her son, an outrageously overweight teenager
(played at various times by Jonathan Harady and Wayne Knight, both of
whom went on to fame and glory.
The author, I believe, was Albert Innaurato.
A very sweet show.
