No, haven't noticed a resemblance, but they do share another similarity.
Dalton has performed with the RSC (I'm not sure if he was a member or not).
I believe he played Antony in Antony & Cleopatra.

Whoops. I had my wires crossed. Pierce Brosnan played "Remington Steele".
Besides being Sinclair, Timothy Dalton *is* James Bond :-). Thanks to those
who emailed me with the correction...
Remington Steele was played by Pierce Brosnan, not Timothy Dalton.

Um, sorry, but Timothy Dalton was NOT the title character of Remington
Steele. That was Pierce Brosnan, who by the way, was originally signed to
become the new James Bond, but he couldn't get out of his contract with
NBC in time.

I have noticed the difference. I was in Germany for the first season
of Star Trek so my cousin recorded the entire first season for me...
In germany I had just seen Dalton as James Bond (a natural if
you ask me). When I came back and started to watch the episodes the first
thing I said was the captian looked like Dalton. Then later I
saw Patrick Stewart in a play on TV in which he had hair and a moustache...
a dead ringer for Dalton!

I agree, Timothy Dalton did not play Remington Steele. I can see,
however, where the confusion arose. For those of us who followed the
RS show (my wife was nuts for Mr. Brosnan!), Pierce wanted out of his
RS contract to have a chance at doing something he had always dreamed
of and that was to play James Bond! He was approached for the role,
but the RS producers decided to play hard-ball and hold him to his
contract. Needless to say, Pierce was very bitter and quite vocal
about it, which made for some friction on the set during RS's last
season.
As it turned out, Timothy Dalton got the role Pierce Brosnan wanted,
and I am sure that was the same year another Bond-film was released in
direct competition with it, this one starring Sean Connery. Unfor-
tunately, I don't remember the name of either movie!

Timothy Dalton 1st played James Bond in "The Living Daylights" in 1987
Sean Connery last played James Bond in "Never Say Never Again" (re working of
Thunderball) in 1983. Roger Moore was then the *official* Bond at the time,
Moore last played Bond in "A View to a Kill" in 1985.

Once! The James bond that came out in '87. That was the last James Bond
to come out, or do I err?
It would be interesting to note, in all of this confusion, that Pierce
Bronsan was originaly slated to play James Bond, instead of Dalton, but
something in his Remington Steele contract messed up the deal...
I'm afraid you err
Dalton was Bond in "The Living Daylights" 1987 and "Licence to Kill" 1990 (or was
it 1989). No James Bond films since then.
back to Trek please
You err. Dalton played Bond twice. The first movie was The Living Daylights
and the second movie was License to Kill, where he lost his license after
disobeying orders and going for revenge or something.
Another thing what does this have to do with Star Trek. There is an
alt.fan.jamesbond net. Shouldn't these questions be posted there?

It is also interesting to note that Patrick Stewart and Timothy Dalton
are (I'm sure) less than 10 years apart in age. It'd be hard for Tim
to play Patrick at a MUCH earlier age... unless what you're really
saying is that Tim could play Patrick WITH HAIR. But then, Patrick in a
wig could play Patrick with hair. :-)
I agree with you, however, there is a noticeable resemblence.
And for the person who thought Timothy Dalton only played Bond once, you're
incorrect. He was in two. The first one was with Olivia D'Abo, whose sister
Miriam was in a recent episode of TNG. The second was really wretched, and
co-starred Wayne Newton of all people. I thought TD was a great Bond, but the
writing was gods-awful!
