REQUEST: newgroup alt.org.klin-assault-g

PURPOSE

A sizable show of support has been shown for the creation of this group:
I now request the creation of a new unmoderated Usenet newsgroup called
alt.org.klin-assault-g. The newsgroup will act as a forum for members
of organized fandom and lurkers alike to discuss the activities and
personalities found in the Klingon Assault Group (KAG), a Not-for-Profit,
International Star Trek Fan Organization which charges no membership dues.
RATIONALE
---------
Existing newsgroups related to Star Trek Fandom are centered around the
viewership of the televisions series and movies (with the possible exception
of alt.org.starfleet.) These groups are spectatory, thematic and media-
based by their natures. No existing group covers the participatory, social,
and organizational topics of our proposed newsgroup.
Existing (television) groups continue to view the show from-the-outside-in,
exploring a world of fantasy from a human startingpoint. KAG is more
participatory, working Trek from the inside-out, viewing the Real World
from the alien and surreal perspective of a Klingon. Discussion of our
club's fan celebrities, activities, talents, and policies is off-topic
to these show-based newsgroups.
It should be a very diverse and interesting forum, as KAG has many of
the most creative and talented individuals in organized Fandom.
CHARTER

The newsgroup alt.org.klin-assault-g will be for the
discussion of activities and news within the Klingon Assault Group(KAG).
(The Klingon Assault Group is a Not-for-Profit, International,
fan organization that doesn't even charge membership dues.)

Topics NOT suitable include:
o Off-topic advertising.
o Threats toward the violation of society or its members
without warning of Role Playing.
o Discussion of other fan organizations, outside of how they can
compare or relate to the Klingon Assault Group.
If formed, the unmoderated group alt.org.klin-assault-g will provide
an open forum regarding the Klingon Assault Group, its activities,
its chapters, and its members around the globe.

Whenever I hear about a Klingon group on USENET, I'm reminded of that
scene in "House of Quark" where Gowron is using a PADD and trying to keep
up with Quark's finances explanation. He gives and does a
Chaplin-esque toss of the PADD over his shoulder.
I didn't think Klingons used computers :-)
