What happened to Nana Visitor?

I read an interview with Rene Auberjonois (in British mag
Starburst) in which he said Nana Visitor was *kidnapped* just
before the filming of 'Heart of Stone' in the third season.

Does anyone know what happened? I was a bit shocked.

There was a report in a US tabloid that she was held hostage in her
home and raped. I think it was in The Globe, or some other piece of trash
my mother left on the kitchen table. As to wether or not it's true, I
guess you'll have to use your own judgement.
If it was true, I'm sure we all agree that she has our thoughts and
support.

I emailed the president of a Nana Visitor fan club
to get to the bottom of this. Apparently it IS true-but Nana doesn't
want to talk about it, and neither does the fan club. What isnt clear
is exactly what it was that happened. Whatever it was, I agree-she
has my compassion and complete support.

The *kidnapping* of a TV star occurred sometime last year and with the
exception of a tabloid story (which are notoriously unreliable), the
incident is only now becoming public? I find this incredible. Either
Paramount has the awesome power it takes to control the news media and
prevent the dissemination of information, or Star Trek has reached its
market saturation point and the mainstream press just doesn't consider
them newsworthy anymore.

Whatever happened, my sympathies go out to Visitor. Luckily, she seems
to be beyond it & is faring well now.

Most respectable media sources, as a rule, do not reveal the names of
rape victims. According to the tabloid the report was in, she was held at
gunpoint in her home and raped. Despite the high profile of the case, I
think most news orginazations would respect her wish not to discuss it.

No, it was mentioned in at least one tabloid story when it was announced
that she had gotten together with Siddig and that they were having a baby.

Yet, amazingly, if it was a 'local' story, I'm sure the media would
have jumped on it without a thought like they ususally do. Not to
say that such always need to be in the news, but I am amazed at how
if you have money or influence, things just 'disappear.'

While I've not actually seen the article in question this sounds like
a classic case of confusing the CHARACTER and the ACTOR. In the
episode in question Nana Visitor's CHARACTER, Kira Nerys, is kidnapped
and replaced by a member of the Founders. Surely this is what Rene was
referring to? Re-read the article and you'll probably find him referring
to 'Major Kira' not 'Nana Visitor'.

Read the article again. There was no mention of rape.

Nana did get raped. She was followed home after filming and abducted. After driving around for a while, they took her back home and raped her. She did an event with Alexander Siddig and Patricia Tallman in early October this year called The Bardo to talk about it. Very hard to hear. Most of us watching via Zoom were in tears. She talked about things that Alexander didn't even know, so I can only imagine how hard it is for her to talk about still. I type this as I'm watching Heart of Stone

Gates McFadden just did a podcast with Nana Visitor. In it she talks about her kidnapping and rape. Someone followed her home and put a gun to her head. She ran, but they shot at her and captured her. They bound her and took her somewhere. She was raped all night and overhead them talk about where they were going to dump the body. In the morning they put the gun back to her head told her to take them back to her house. She said telling them was what gave her the most shame because her baby was at the house. They got to the house and bound her nanny and infant. They rummaged through her house and even played with her dogs. She said it wasn't the rape that gave her PTSD, it was the shame of bringing them into her home and her baby. Eventually the two men where caught and given multiple life sentences. She said it was the kidnapping more than anything that led to the long sentencing. All of this comes straight from Nana in the podcast. It's called InvestaGates.

I had not heard this story before but OMG as someone who plays far too
much Star Trek Timelines I have to say she's my favorite actor in the
show canon. Especially her wide variety of holodeck roles.
