Greetings
I hear there will be a new series in January of 95, something
called Voyager. Do es anyone have information as to its
background?
What it is about? Who the characters are?
The time frame?

Or anything else??

Fred, I think you need to read the news more often. The concept for a new ST
series has been spoken about for about a year now, and it's all been coming
together over the past few months. The cast is all set, the sets are built,
I think they've finished shooting "Caretaker (VOY)" which will be the first
episode (2-hrs). Last I heard they were up to the fourth or fifth show of
the season.

The USS Voyager will be pursuing a Maquis vessel when something happens (I
read what it was, but I forgot) and both ships end up deep in the Delta
quadrant, which we (Starfleet and us TV viewers) know nothing about. A lot
of people (including myself) think that the Borg homeworld is somewhere in
the Delta Quadrant. This has not been established, to my knowledge.

The captain is Kathryn Janeway, played by Kate Mulgrew
The first officer is Chakotay, played by Robert Beltran (sp?)
There's a black Vulcan officer named Tuvok, played by Tim Russ. He was the
Lieutenant behind Captain Harriman on board the E-B in Generations
There's an Ensign fresh out of the academy, played by Harry Kim
There's a half Klingon/half human woman named B'Elaana (sp?) played by
Roxanne Biggs-Dawson (sp?)
The doctor is a hologram, played by Robert Picardo
There's some wierd alien named Neelix, forgot the actor's name
His girlfriend's name is Kes, forgot the actress' name.

It is set in the current time frame. In fact, the Voyager launches from DS9,
and I hear Quark has a few lines in the pilot. That will make Armin
Shimerman the first actor to appear on TNG, DS9, and VOY.
