It's certainly true that most of the imagination is going into Voyager;
but then, the studio understands that Voyager and TNG remain, for now,
the future of ST. The likely one-year extension of DS9's run mainly
reflects the unresolved question of what to do about another spin-off.
If they decide to do another series (pretty certain for several business
reasons, despite the seeming illogic of it), they won't try to launch
until the 98-99 season.
In the meantime Voyager -- what with people having their bodies snatched
by belligerent aliens, evolved dinosaurs ruling a chunk of the galaxy,
Starfleet folk having personal confrontations aboard space-bound cable
cars, aliens in "pon farr" and everyone shuttling back and forth across
time -- is getting to be as childish and implausible as that old Star
Trek show with Kirk and Spock. If this keeps up, it'll be hard to tell
them apart, eh? <G>
P.S.
Any one concerned about what they'll do for a "Trek fix" is displaying
symptoms of a problem beyond what a television show can be expected to
address anyway. ;-)
