For those of you who have not seen ``Fistful of Datas'', !!SPOILERS AHOY!!

I have looked through several postings in this group about the recent TNG
episode ``Fistful of Datas'' and not ONE person mentioned that the show only
lasted 30 minutes this week! At least on Denver's KWGN and Cheyenne's KGWN
they both aired a 30 minute version of the show. I mean, what's going on? At
6:00 pm Saturday night I flip on the show and I catch the opening credits. At
6:30 the closing credits are rolling up! The show had what seemed like a
fairly normal plot: beginning, middle, and end (with Worf's smile at the very
end!), but it also seemed like a lot of the detail in the show was missing.
For example, why are Worf and his son and Counselor Troi on the holodeck? This
is not explained. Later, the barmaid comes into the sheriff's office with a
bunch of stuff. Again, no explanation as to why she did this, although Worf
had probably asked her to earlier. And was there something else to the
relationship between the sheriff and the barmaid? At the end of the holodeck
story, she's hanging all over him as if they had developed something earlier.
Also, what is the reason for the ship Biko? I mean, it is mentioned once and
shown once, but no explanation for why it is there. And what's the special
interface they are working on that supposedly caused the holodeck problem?

Anyway, I thought the episode was good and funny, but wholly confusing because
I think this was meant to be a 60 minute show that for some reason had been cut
to 30 minutes. Anybody else see the 30 minute version?

Pretty weird. We saw all 60 minutes' worth in Toronto. And there's
nothing that would invite censorship in the first 1/2 hour. Sounds to
me like your local station just screwed up big!

I talked to the programming guy at KWGN and he said that the show started at
5:30 instead of 6:00 because of some basketball game or other. I could SWEAR
that I saw the credits roll at 6:00 however. It will be rebroadcast next
Sunday he said. Hmmmm....

It was an hour here, I think you got a raw deal ther parsnip.
And yes, I agree it was a funny, good show. Lots of neat little things
thrown in that made me laugh. I know someone will flame me, but I've
decided to stop overanalyzing and just enjoy the show without worrying about
the fact that there is a wrong deck number on a turbolift door, etc.

Cheers,

The show started at 5:30 on denver's KWGN and I assume that the cheyenne
station got its feed from the denver station. I turned over to Denver at 5:30
to catch the opening credits and then decided to watch it at 6pm on the local
ABC station that does not preempt startrek for basketball games. Denver has a
habit of starting StarTrek early on days when there is a Nugget Basketball
game.

This should clear up the confusion.

p.s. Check the cable listing, it will show if and when startrek is
shown early for basketball games and other "important" events.

Wow... don't know what happened there! ;-) We had the normal 60 minutes
of show-time (well, 47 not including the commercials). Seems like you
missed a bit in there! (Especially if they kept the commercials in...)

Show started at 5:30 PM on Denver's station to make room for Nuggets game
starting at 6:30. Did you see the opening credits from Cheyenne at 6:00 and
watch the rest of the show from Denver?

Interesting, according to what I've read, that is QUITE illegal (chopping
up first run episodes).. I'd recommend you write to your station and complai
and to P'mount to kick their butts and make sure they don't do it again. I'
be quite upset if they chopped it up in HALF up here..
