Hi

When I was a kid I half read a science fiction book that involved the main
character fliiping coins to make his decisions. I am pretty sure he was
named after a US president (as was his friend) and 95% sure he was called
"Lincoln". I also think that "sands" was in the title.

I remember the book cause my mother had a book sale and I sat reading it for
an hour or two before someone bought it and was most upset at the time, well
25 years on I'd like to finish the book!

I am sure the book has a scene where the main character also decides, via a
coin, whether or not to rescue a woman who is in some danger either a cage
or a cell or something.

Thanks all

Will

Doorways in the Sand, Roger Zelazny.

It's also notable because every chapter starts in the middle of the
action, and then goes back to tell you what happened.

Well, there is a book called "The Lincoln Lords" I'm pretty sure is SF.
