I was rereading Stand on Zanzibar and discovered that not only
did I have no idea who did hte cover, there didn't seem to be any credit
or signature to the piece. It's the cover shown here:

http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/b/john-brunner/stand-on-zanzibar.htm

Is that Steel Savage or Murray Tinkelman? Both did covers
roughly in the right time frame.

Seems very likely it's Tinkelman...check out the "Notes" at
http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pl.cgi?STNDNZNZBB1978 Also note
that an earlier edition (June 1976) is credited to Tinkelman
without any Notes.

Further, http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pl.cgi?STNDNZNZBR1973
indicates Savage's pic is different.

Lastly (and possibly circumstantial), on SoZ's main isfdb page
( http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cgi?1149 ) Savage's pic
applies from June 1972 - June 1974 and Tinkelman is credited
(that's the possibly circumstantial part, given the Notes
mentioned above) for the next 4 Ballantine/Del Rey editions.

My copy (Eighth Printing, May 1980) with that cover (man in a
test tube) credits Murray Tinkelman.
