I'm ignoring the boring trolls to take this opportunity to give my
clear, Cohesive, and Simple definition of SF that amused the other
members of the APA I'm in. I compared science fiction, fantasy, and
alternative history to the conditional mood of English grammar.

Del Cotter's Clear, Cohesive, & Simple Definitions:
***************************************************

FIRST CONDITIONAL (Science Fiction):

"If I win the lottery, I will buy a Porsche"

SECOND CONDITIONAL (Fantasy):

"If I won the lottery, I would buy a Porsche"

THIRD CONDITIONAL (Alternative History):

"If I had won the lottery, I would have bought a Porsche"

I thank yew.

Secret History: I didn't win the lottery, and you can't see my
Porsche.

"If I won the lottery and forgot to pay taxes on it, scary men would
repossess my Porsche"
