Well, you could always debate that - but that is what they should have
done, instead of this soap opera stuff.
You have to assume the people lending out their bodies are volunteers
and know full well that people are going to do "things" with their
"parts."

Lance Corporal "Hammer" Schultz
Promote someone else.
I'm still stuck on the idea that his wife needed to tell him the
morality of it all.
Um.
He's a man. Do I really need to say more?
Its better to assume they are forced for story telling reasons.
Also, would you accept a stranger showing up telling they were your
partner?
Well, perhaps men are easier there *g* - but then that's a story ,
someone on the destiny is jealous that her husband did have sex with
some gorgeous lieutenant !
"But wanted it!"
"I didn't know what I looked like at the time!"
Oh and 'no' - I don't have to assume anything - I want the writers to
tell me!
If you have to assume, it's bad writing.
Well... Young is a few billion light years from Earth, he's about as
lost as any human has ever been - and he still hasn't stopped to ask
for directions. Yup, he's a man. <g>
Assume or deduce? Do you really need to be spoon fed?
The "lenders" are military, right? So, even if the "volunteered", is that
really "volunteered", or implied orders? If they did "volunteer", did they
do so out of fear for their future careers?
Again, another story I'd like to see covered in the series.
AC
Well, they've had more than one scene with Telford that started with
someone stating that it was time for their shift, but he refuses to
leave. It could be just because of his rank and a healthy obsession
with wanting to control what goes on on Destiny, but it also implies
to me that the people who take "shifts" are, indeed, volunteering for
the process.
RWG (not withstanding any special "missions" that require specific
personell - like the one where they try to open the gate)

Why is that? That doesn't make any sense. Obviously there are people
who *want* to go to Destiny and are willing to trade their body with
someone for a while to do it (like Telford). Why would the Air Force
need to "force" someone to give up their meat suit?
> Also, would you accept a stranger showing up telling they were your

No, that's part of why believability is out the window with this
series. And it's funny in a sad way -- when everyone in the universe
spoke English in SG-1 and SGA, it wasn't exactly believable, but it
never *ever* got in the way of enjoying the story.
All the facts necessary to support the story must be provided or it's
bad writing. That's why it's fiction and not real life.
I would accept that enough facts must be present to deduce a consistent
conclusion, but to say *all* is to argue for some real dumbed down
patronising writing.
AC
For story telling reasons. (though obviously there are exceptions)

Though so far, everybody speaks english here as well *G*
But yeah.
*ROTFL*
See, that wasn't hard to figure out!
No, it's called granting your audience some brains and not dumbing
everything down..just so the likes of *you* can get your minds to
grapple with the story.

'Bones' McCoy, Star Trek (2009).
Exactly.
And you're a bloody hypocrite. You had a go at me for *jokingly* being
anti-feminist...yet I see no smilies here. Is man bashing acceptable now? :/
LOL @ "meat suit" :D
What's your point? The reason the cast speak English in SGU is because
they're all either American or British - you can hardly compare that
with alien races speaking English for no good or apparent reason. At
least Star Trek and Farscape addressed the issue...however much of a
stretch universal translators and translator microbes are.
Yes, it is. Where have you been?
He's a fictional character, and a caraciture besides. Lighten up, dude.
Everybody here knows I was joking except you. I wasn't the only one who
thought *you* were serious.
Stop that, dammit. It's enough hate when DL says this crap. Don't
support her hate.
She's a woman. Do I really need to say more?
*quirks an eyebrow*
Yes Mark, I think you really do. Tell me more, dear.

Oh go on, you know you want to ;)
Thank you. You have just made my point.

Your point was that if you say anything, you get asked to say more?
No, you've already displayed enough ignorance and stupidity for one day.
You want to play the hate game, I can play it too. But it's really more
bother than it's worth, you know.
You had a point?
Let me summarize the conversation:
DL: "All men are the same: stupid and amoral."
L-11: "No"
DL: "Ha Ha Ha. I was joking."
L-11: "Is man bashing acceptable now?"
DL: "Yes. It is. Where have you been?"
MN: "All women are the same."
PAP: "You'd best explain that."
DL (to MN): "You're stupid and amoral."
Can you say "Double Standard"? Yeah? No, I didn't think so. Guess
you all missed that half of Conscious Raising.
Yeah, but how'd my playfully inviting you to dig yourself a hole and
jump in get lumped in here?
I mean, I thought you knew me well enough to know I was kiddin ?
I certainly didn't say angry words or anything...
You may have read that, but it isn't what I said, and that fact that you
would pretend it is just makes you look that much stupider.
> L-11: "No"
> DL: "Ha Ha Ha. I was joking."

I also did not say this. The fact that you would pretend I did means you
probably are trolling me. Good luck with that.
>

> you all missed that half of Conscious Raising.
L:ike you have room to talk about double standards, when you can dish it out
but don't think it's a bit funny when it gets handed back.
No. I don't want to play the hate game. And to you it isn't a game,
it's a way of life.
Compare our two comments:
"He's a man, Do I really need to say more?"
And you pretend that's a joke and that I'm stupid for not getting it.
"She's a woman. Do I really need to say more?"
And now you are offended and see nothing but ignorance and stupidity.
HAND, C.
You lying sack of shit. I didn't think it was a bit funny when you
started it, and I didn't think it was funny when I showed you why your
"joke" wasn't funny. Now you start pretending that I started something
when YOU threw the first insult. I just played them back to you.
Ordinarily, I'd just kf you and move on, but I can't do that because,
outside this one subject of your determined hatefulness, you bring good
things to life.
BTW, the evidence that you are lying about who said what is preserved
right in the quotes above.
I strongly suggest you get over it. Either that, or just put me in a
killfile. Either way, I'm done. You don't like me, I get that. I just
don't care.
*LOL*
You're really funny when you're not trying to be. You don't know me from
Adam, and you think you can troll me. Get a life, dude.
OK...all is even.
:)
