What's going on? That's not a show I watch, but I was aware
of some of the production aspects... do you mean that they've
replaced Monika Schnarre?
Monika Schnarre is no longer credited in the opening credits. A new
actress (didn't catch her name, but suspect she's an Aussie) is.
Previous story developments on the show had Schnarre's Sorceress
imprisoned in crystal by The Ancient One (Grahame Bond). At the time, I
didn't think this would be development, though I suspected it could be.
It turns out, it looks like it is. In fact, no mention was made of
Schnarre's character, nor who this new Sorceress is or where she came
from. Indeed, even the opening credits have been totally redone.
Schnarre's Sorceress has been completely excised (one shot of Emile de
Ravin's Demon Curupira still remains, however), and Sam Healy's Iara has
been extensively added to the opening credits.
For the record, I doubt Schnarre was let go. My suspicion is that she
didn't want to stay "out of the way" in Australia for filming, and wanted
to be "closer to the action" in L.A. and Vancouver, and probably asked to
leave. She could easily get jobs over here if she wanted them, just as
Emilie de Ravin did beofre her. But I'm just guessing.
I've got to say, though, that this is *extremely* damaging to
"Beastmaster". In half a season, they've now lost Schnarre, de Ravin and
Steven Grives' excellent villain, King Zad. I'm not sure the show can
prosper after having lost so many key first season players. To their
credit, they've spread these cast changes out over most of this second
season (so far), so it hasn't been as noticable. But these cast changes
really hurt "Beastmaster"...

Dunno.
(shameless self-promotion mode activated)
But in case anyone misses the old sorceress, you can see Monika
Schnarre guest starring as Lt. Jill Pearce in the upcoming
Andromeda episode "The Mathematics of Tears," the weekend
after this one (in the U.S.)
(end shameless self-promotion)

Ah, blatant Stunt Casting, obviously intended to suck in the huge
viewership of "BEASTMASTER."
Of course, they won't stay around after they discover that Sorbo
doesn't converse with ferrets, so the ratings spike will be
relatively temporary.
What "ANDROMEDA" *really* needs is a visit from Jessica Fletcher,
to demonstrate how to use *real* stunt casting.
Or maybe "MISTER PEEPERS."
If they get Wally Cox, that will be *REALLY* impressive stunt
casting.
