The scores range from 3.0 to 3.7 so let's plot this from 3.0 to 4.0

After the first two episodes, the scores dropped off pretty quickly
but the scores picked up after that with a slight dip partly due to
the time travel episode. Heroes writers probably need to take a hint
from this and set alimit on the number of episodes per season that go
back and revisit the past.

I highly doubt this will be an issue after this season.

I'm betting that, despite the ratings, NBC will renew Heroes for a fifth
season. It's still one of NBC's top-rated shows, and they aren't going
to give it up unless it simply isn't profitable.

It's already noticeable, though, that they have tightened the budget:
there are less large-scale special effects (the power-effects have been
restricted to small displays, which look like they are not very
expensive to render), and a lot less location shots - most scenes are
taking place on standing sets that represent the interiors of building.

I think the next step will be trimming the cast: Pasdar is obviously on
the chopping block, and I think Ramamurthy is in danger (Mohinder's
absence certainly hasn't been noticeable thus far). It wouldn't surprise
me if Quinto decided to leave the show to focus more on his movie
career; and Masi Oka could be cut in a shocker (although I doubt he'll
be going anywhere).

The contracts are probably up for renewal next year, and the show should
come close to the magical 100-ep mark. At that point, I think NBC will
cut the show loose.
