David Eldridge’s award-winning, funny and touching play portrays three
subtly connected love stories that reveal in turn the roller-coaster ride
of lust in its prime, the sacrifices of a life in public service and its
unrequited passions.
As Michelle, a randy maths teacher, Tate strips off for a sex scene. "She
doesn’t apologise for having slept with all these people," says Tate. "I
think it’s very honest and refreshing to have someone who goes, 'Yeah, I
have a lot of sex.' It just strips away the nonsense."
The play runs for ten weeks beginning 15 July at the Duke of York's
Theatre, St. Martin's Lane, London.

Today's playwrights??? You think nudity is new to plays?? You
seriously need to get out more.
If you think Catherine Tate nude is a bad thing I think that
definitely qualifies you to qualify for the poff of the year award.
Where is the nudity in Shakespeare? I don't remember Euripides fame coming
from his parts for nude women?

Only a poof would prefer Catherine Tate nude to Keira Knightly even with

As you well know actors in those days were all men*. However Aristophanes
certainly had nude female parts in his plays even if played by young boys.
* Although some people believe that women may have been used in the chorus
for comedies.

What caused the injury - sustained during the last dress rehearsal - is
unknown but BBC News said it was hoped the actress would be well enough to
take to the stage tonight.
The results of an X-ray are being awaited.
The play, by David Eldridge, is on at the Duke of York's Theatre in
London's West End.
It is the first time in Doctor Who's 45 year history that the programme has
achieved this position. Not only did the programme top the chart but it did
so in style, getting over 1.5 million more viewers than the second placed
programme, Monday's Wimbledon coverage. Journey's End got over 2 million
more viewers than any episode of Coronation Street and 3 million more than
any episode of EastEnders.
This previous highest chart position was achieved by the 2007 Christmas
special, Voyage of the Damned, and last week's The Stolen Earth, both of
which came second. The highest chart position the classic series achieved
was 5th for the second episode of the 1975 Tom Baker story The Ark in
Space.
Only 31 episodes of Doctor Who have ever made the top ten, eight starring
William Hartnell, one starring Jon Pertwee, one starring Tom Baker, one
starring Christopher Eccleston and twenty starring David Tennant.
The high chart position, combined with the outstanding Appreciation Index
scores, make the two final episodes of Series 4 undoubtedly the most
successful episodes of Doctor Who ever made. With the repeats on BBC3 and
the IPlayer downloads included, the final episode has been seen by nearly
13 million viewers within a week of broadcast.
Doctor Who also topped the Multi Channel Chart, with Saturday's
Confidential making number one with 1.46 million watching. The Sunday
repeat of Journey's End was 2nd with 1.21 million and the Friday repeat of
The Stolen Earth got 0.74 million and was the 11th most watched programme.
At about this point, I started laughing uncontrollably and couldn't finish
reading your post. *

Of course, that WAS a while ago. The cruelty of time...
BTW I looked up C.T. She's a lot better looking than many of the
women constantly posted here. And she does appear to possess a
rather impressive pair of breasts, the size of which appears to
be one of the principal determinants of a woman's attractiveness
for this group.

Me, I'm wondering why the BBC is playing these USTV
number-inflation games. Aren't they noncommercial? Why do they
care?
--

Number-inflation? As the way the public watch TV changes shouldn't the
BARB ratings be changed to reflect that?
Anyway as to why they want good numbers. Doctor Who is supposed to be
one of their popular entertainment programmes. Obviously they want
their popular entertainment to be popular. If it wasn't popular enought
it might get less budget, moved to a less important part of the schedule,
or not get another series. Some other types of programmes are less reliant
on getting high viewing figures.
They need to justify their Three and a Half Billion Pounds (Seven Billion
Dollars) per annum income from the Television Tax.

How does the iDownload work? (I presume it is limited to .uk
addresses at least until after the foreign showings?) Is there
some fee, or is it free? If the former, there's the feedback
mechanism right there. (Can the customer apply to get a refund
of part of the TV tax, as (according to the number-inflation
trick) the downloader didn't watch it on the BBC?)

Well, it's been an article of faith among Who fans that the show
hasn't been budgetted in accordance with its popularity. :)
I'm fine with that. There's not a firm correlation of what's
expensive to what's good (or even popular).
Scheduling? How should adding in the numbers of the BBC3 reruns
or the downloads affect the schedule of BBC1?
And I know it would be unfair to mention that we aren't getting
another series next year. :)

Yup - BBC iPlayer is restricted to UK IP addresses (if I understand it
correctly!).
It is free, but a programme is usually only available for download for
7 days after TV broadcast for downloading and once downloaded has a
shelf life of 30 days on your computer. However, once you watch it on
your PC the shelf life is then reduced to 7 days for subsequent
viewings
I get the impression that the BBC are struggling to work out how to
accommodate access to non UK IP's for iPlayer. This has something to
do with their charter I think (although I could be wrong). If they
could charge for iPlayer access for non-UK viewers they would probably
make a fortune.
As someone who has just been offered a job just outside of Melbourne
in Australia I am interested in the direction this is going (assuming
I take the job)
However, I hope that clarifies some of the idiosyncracies of the BBC
iPlayer for you?
