I just started watching Farscape - I borrowed some tapes, and am planning to
buy Season 1 on DVD.

I know the show was canceled - my question is, did they get to complete the 4th
season, or was it cut short?

And are they definitely going to make a movie/mini-series to finish the story,
or is it just in the planning stages?

Stopped with a cliffhanger.

Being shot as we speak.

The season ended where it usually did - with a giganto cliffhanger.

That's the plan, but the time it was supposed to have started filming has
come and gone. So who knows? *

Aah, I disagree. The season 'ended' - ie. there was a significant amount of
resolution to the story of that season and in fact of all 4 seasons. And
then there was a tacked on cliffhanger that really had nothing to do with
anything. IMO it still left a significant amount of closure to the series,
moreso than most *planned* endings.

Technically it ended on a cliffhanger. But it seemed more like some
bullshit scene they just tagged on at the end. Evertyhing seemed to have
been nicely resolved. And then in the last 2 minuttes someone may or may
not blowup. They proabbly only added that to piss of the fans.

Either you and I saw a different final episode or we define "cliffhanger"
very differently.

Excellent.

I would say the part where the two main characters were turned into a
pile of seaweed-like goo on a rowboat counts as a "cliffhanger."

But the kind of cliffhanger that doesn't need to be resolved.

I have it from a *very* reliable source (two degrees of separation
from someone involved in the production) that they are about 2 weeks
from the end of shooting.

Er, yeah. The episode was called 'bad timing' after all, and the incident
at the end was the culmination of a lot of good decisions happening on a
really bad day. I think it was always intended to be there. It's not like
terrible things haven't been done to the characters, especially these two
characters, before!

I would have liked to have seen how they handled it in the context of the
regular series (a miniseries is sure to dispense with it very quickly).
In past season cliffhangers, sometimes the implications lasted a dozen or
more episodes into the next season, or even longer with Harvey. *

P.S. Damn, now you've got me missing the show again. As dumb as it could
be, it was just as often a really good time.

If you believe tachyon tv, they haven't actually started yet. The author
was jokingly suggesting a 'save farscape, again' campaign. *

Well, considering how TTV works, it's hard to tell whether that means
anything or not.

According to Neil Perryman, he contacted someone at Henson because he
wanted to do an article on the farscape series, and the Henson person told
him, several times, that the show was not yet in production as of January.

Neil is in the process of moving, so I don't know if he's reading any
newsgroups at the moment - it would be nice to hear the story from his own
keyboard. *
