Here's the hot off the keyboard update to Scott's bio.

There are a few changes since May and certain sections have expanded as the
info has come my way. Thank you to those folks who sent me corrections and
updates (you know who you are!) I have watched a few more films since last
time (well I admit I did fast forward through most of "Color of Night" just
to get to the end credits) and TV programmes (in particular DW and E&L).

I have also introduced an imagess section. If you have gifs available or
know of other net resources then please e-mail details to me so they can be
included next time.

BTW I update the FAQ section every time so don't think you've read it all
before, 'cause you ain't!

As a companion piece to the mega-bio I have compiled a shorter ready
reference handlist. This details all (known) performances by Scott and will
help you track down those elusive CDs and video cassettes missing from your
collection!

Next mega-bio update will be in November 1995. In the meantime please
e-mail anything for inclusion.

Enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1
Does he really play and sing?

A1
Yes. Both his parents are musical. He started a rock band in the fourth
grade. As a youngster he started in musical theater ("Amahl and the night
visitors") and his resume, both on and off Broadway, is extensive. In his
teens he sang in the St. Louis Symphony Chorus. He is seen singing and
playing piano and guitar in "Eisenhower & Lutz" and "Quantum Leap". He also
wrote the lyrics for "Somewhere in the night" featured in QL "Piano Man".

Q2
How did he get into acting?

A2
After high school Scott, son of a corporate lawyer, attended a small
college near St. Louis to do business and pre-law studies where he got
involved with a summer theater program and performed in "Godspell". He
changed his major and started theater studies at the same college in
January 1975.

At the end of summer '75 he was offered a national tour of "Godspell" that
was to originate in St. Louis. He left school but as the tour fell through
he did more theater around St. Louis. He decided to go to New York the
following year to seek employment.

He went to New York in September 1976 and immediately was hired for a
dinner theater tour (in North Carolina) of "Shenandoah", his first
professional acting job. His first Broadway show was "Marilyn: An American
Fable".

He dabbled with television in the late 70's and 80's (or television dabbled
with him) and he even worked on a few soaps but it is "Quantum Leap" that
made his name and where he earned the reputation of being the hardest
working actor in Hollywood with the versatility and ability to play any
type of role.

Q3
Does he perform his own stunts?

A3
Mostly as he has the athletic and physical ability to perform them. QL
Stunt co-ordinator Diamond Farnsworth has taught him well but does some
stunts for him (in "Necessary Roughness" and "Color of Night" as well as
QL)

Q4
What are his hobbies?

A4
Not much time for hobbies, as he is a notorious workaholic, but he likes to
ski, play golf, ice hockey, softball, tennis, roller blade and soccer. He
has (1994) played in celebrity ice hockey and soccer matches in LA. He also
likes to watch movies.

Q5
Is Scott really as nice as he seems?

A5
Yes. He is always polite and often goes out of his way to be kind to his
fans. He is also a considerate and consummate professional by all accounts.
Dean Stockwell was given the chance to set Scott up for the "Super bloopers
and new practical jokes" program (21 Sept 1990) when a bunch of student
filmmakers were given the task of making a NBC promotional video. Scott was
patience personified as they struggled with their task.

Q6
Where does Scott live?

A6
Los Angeles. The family home is in Ojai about 70 miles from LA. He also
has/d a farm in up-state New York. This must be in a state of flux since
the recent news of Scott and Krista's divorce proceedings. (People Magazine
July 17, 1995)

Q7
How tall is Scott?

A7
About 6 feet tall.

Q8
What is that streak at the front of his hair?

A8
It appeared naturally, virtually overnight, when he was 4 years old and led
to teasing and nicknames such as "grandpa", "skunk" and "streak".

Q9
What size feet does he have?

A9
Size 11 (See QL "Dr Ruth" ;-)

Q10
Where does the name Bakula originate and how do you pronounce it?

A10
It is Bohemian in origin (Czechoslovakia) and according to Dean Stockwell
"Bakula" rhymes with "Dracula".

Q11
Is there a musical show that Scott hasn't performed in yet but would like
to do?

A11
He would dearly love to return to Broadway but other commitments prevent
him from doing that. He reputedly turned down an opportunity to play the
lead in "Company" in the Roundabout production in New York (1995). He is on
record as wanting to perform in Sondheim's "Sweeney Todd" (he sang
"Nothing's going to harm you" from the show at the Kennedy Center Honours
in 1993) and would also like to play in "Man of La Mancha" again. He has
also been approached to record more albums, but has chosen not to,
preferring to further his acting career.

Incidentally Scott also sang the National Anthem (which was not televised)
during the Baseball World Series in 1993. At the Tony awards show in 1988
he performed two songs from "Romance, Romance" (with co-star Alison
Fraser). Most recently he took part in a performance of "Anyone Can
Whistle" at the Carnegie Hall in April 1995.

Q12
Is Scott interesting in doing anything else apart from acting?

A12
He established Bakula Productions in 1994. The production company signed a
long-term agreement with Warner Brothers Television in April 1994 for Scott
to "create, develop, produce, direct and possibly star in a variety of
projects" (St Louis Post Despatch, Oct 1994). Accordingly it is developing
telefilms and series. It also co-produced the play "The cover of life" in
New York in 1994. Scott may be directing some episodes of "Hope and Gloria"
for the 1995/6 season.

Q13
When else can we expect to see him at the movies or on TV in another
starring role?

A13
Scott's first top billing is for Clive Barker's supernatural film noir
"Lord of Illusions" LoI's release is now expected to be 25 August 1995. It
was re-edited and some effects were redone after weak audience responses at
preview screenings earlier in 1995.

Keep a look out for "Prowler" as a pilot episode has been made for CBS with
Scott playing a top-ranking Los Angeles police detective. The series has
not yet been included in the autumn schedules but may be an early
replacement. There is an unconfirmed report that 15 episodes are to be made
initially. (Quantum Quarterly, July 1995)

It has been confirmed that Scott will play the leading role in a Fox
mini-series; a remake of "The Invaders". Roy Thinnes, who played David
Vincent in the original series, will appear in the first part (of four).
Terence Knox and Elizabeth Pena will also star. (Variety )

A Turner Worldwide Pictures animated musical feature "Cats don't dance" is
set for release in either 1996 or 1997 and Scott will give Danny, the cat,
a voice.

Scott is also developing a telefilm based on the life and tragic death of
Bruce Brian, a Los Angeles anti-gang proponent entitled "Minister of the
Hood" that will be co-produced with Michael Nathanson. (Variety, 2 February
1995)

Several features are in development including "Stanky United" a
father-and-son drama set in the world of soccer. Jerry Colker ("3 Guys
Naked From the Waist Down") will co-write the screenplay. (Variety, 2
February 1995) A film version of the musical "Nite Club Confidential" is
also being developed, in which Scott will star (Variety, 2 February 1995).
Scott's name has also been bandied about for a "midquel" of "The Thorn
Birds" (TV Guide, w/b 25 Feb 1995).
