i'm a first time poster, let me just say that you are an idol of mine
and someday I hope to get a scifi arc show on the air as well, you are
an inspiration to me. anywho...

I know that 3 Crusade scripts were written but not produced (To the Ends
of Earth, Value Judgements, The End of the Line). I've heard you
respond maybe I'll put Crusade into novels, etc. My question: will you
somehow release these 3 already made scripts? now that's something I'll
shell $20 bucks a pop for! seriously though I am intensely curious
about these three status quo shattering eps.

Well. I'd hate to beg, but... *please*! I know there's some kind of writer's
ethics involved here... but please just break your resolve for two minutes so
that we can get our greedy hands on the scripts and tear into them like
jackals. Please?

Would it be possible to do something for say seeing Ear theatre or even
audio tape? (I'm thinking of the fact that the only New Dr Who's coming out
of BBC are audio tapes).

And Yes I do realise that there are probably all sorts of poblems with
publication rights, never mind getting any of the original cast into studio.

But how does that work for novels? Would it be easier to have the
scripts adapted? Could they be weaved into a novel, or maybe short
stories? Include them, the 3 tales from Amazing Stories magazine, and
add a few more new ones, and that'd be a nice Babylon 5/Crusade
anthology.

Either way, it would be great to let writers explore and expand the B5
universe and some of the aborted plans for the Crusade characters
(Gideon an apprentice Technomage!?!). Not to mention tie up the
dangling Crusade plots.

Isn't Del Rey interested in including Crusade in their B5 book rights?

Fiona Avery did make her script, Value Judgements, available at the
Nasfic convention in Anaheim a few weeks ago. It's darn good, and yes,
it would be great to see the other two scripts, but I would actually
just prefer to see the show on the air again and see the scripts that
way.

Ugh! Spin-off novels? Have you ever read any of the stuff for Star Trek or
Star Wars? I read many when I was in middle-school. I would only want the
novels if JMS went over all of them, or wrote them himself.

Actually there were 4 unproduced scripts, but all we know about #4 was that
it was written by Fiona Avery(we know this because JMS said that they bought
4 scripts from Fiona, only two of which were produced, and of the 3 titles
we have, Fiona only wrote one). But I'm with you, I'd pay $20 a pop for
one. Although one Fiona script has already been sold in limited numbers,
"Value Judgements" at NASfic.

I've read several Treks. Great ones such as John M. Ford's FINAL
REFLECTION, Diane Duane's WOUNDED SKY, Peter David's A ROCK AND A HARD
PLACE (among others), Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens' FEDERATION, and
a few others. And several more that were mediocre to crap. Sturgeon's
Law applies *everywhere*.

The Dell B5 novels were almost all mediocre or worse, IMO. But the Del
Rey books have been an immense improvement. No great works of art, nor
should they be expected to be. Look to *original* SF novels for that.
But the Psi-Corps novels have been smoothly readable, substantially
plotted, creatively allowed to explore the B5 universe and history, and
simply enjoyable. If this continues with Peter David's Centauri
trilogy, I'd be glad to have Del Rey include CRUSADE, especially with
JMS continuing imput and concepts. But I would like to see what some
other authors could do on their own, ie. they pitch a synopsis of their
own making for JMS to go over, edit back and forth with the author to
challenge them to maintain the substantial quality standards, or accept
if done right even if different then what JMS might conceive himself.
JMS is visionary in tv SF, but diffent mind = different ideas. It
happened with D.C. Fontana'a ep of B5. I'd like to see what Diane
Carey could do expanding upon that mention of when Sheridan captained a
ship and came in contact with gas clouds in space that he discovered
were alive and comunicated with flashes of colour (or something to that
affect), among other authors. Not to mention, it would be nice to have
some all-in-one novels. I'm enjoying this current trilogy, but it's a
*long* wait between each.

Let's fantasize:
Your favorite asteroid strikes Atlanta.
It doesn't do any damage, it just kills a few recent arrivals at TNT.
Their replacements decide to show how good they are by reversing some
of their predecesors decisions.
The famous twenty pages are out, Crusade is in.
What happens next?
I gather that you and others already have other commitments.

What's the website for the memos? www.shame.con/tnt/memos doesn't work.

If only the asteroid could MIRV and get ALL the guilty parties all at once.
