JMS,

Thinking all of the playing cards, action figures, pewter figures, keychains,
pins, stamps, cards, posters, models, shirts, jackets, patches, scripts,
bibles, books mags, games and CDs and....well I think that may cover a lot of
it <g>.

What do you think is the coolest item that's been made available from the B5
universe? What cool item hasn't been made available that you'd love to see?

Thanks,

Jan

Probably the Starfury model.

I'm shocked. It's * obviously * the "Crusade" lettermans jackets. :-)

Agreed. Mine, of course, has the Black Omega paint job...

The station model is pretty keen too, though. It rotates!

Cassius' Quote of the Day:
JMS: "I have no ambitions to be a director. I belong behind a keyboard. I think
that that's where my strength is, and that's where the restraining orders
should put me. I think western civilization's safer with me locked in a room
behind a keyboard than if I were out running around..."

Only until Lockheed-Martin (or whomever) gets licensed to build an
assembly line to mass-produce the real, working ships, though! :-)

Not likely, Star Furies are powered by balognium. There's no place to
put enough delta-v to be useful for that sort of craft. Granted, it
really is a gorgeous design if you had access to something to power
it, but that ain't going to happen for the forseeable future, if at
all. The physics are debatable as to whether it's even possible (I
know, there have been huge debates on this newsgroup about it :-))

Perhaps we should ask our local plasma rocket expert if he can explain
the issues. Oh John???

Anyway, something similar to the star furyish maintenance ships is
much more likely in the near future.

I thought that those debates had been settled in favour of the "It can
be done!" camp, though...

No doubt. Those seemed like a logical design variant to my eye when I
spotted them for the first time...in which episode, again?

My coolest B5 item is the picture of G'Kar, autographed by Andreas, that
I got at Agamemcon last year. Also love the Del Rey books & the
collectable cards.

The Ranger Pin, definitely. I wear it on a black waistcoat and you would not
believe the number of people who've said 'I LOVE your brooch! Where did you
get it?" They're usually slightly stunned when they find out it's from an SF
show.

Of course, I'd love a fighting pike too, but there's no way that'll be
released because if it worked it would be a lethal weapon (or the owner
would poke someone's eye out with it...and rename them G'kar).

One of these days........

The pin I get the biggest giggle out of is the Psi-Corp one my friend wears on
his cassock. Yes, he's a real Catholic Priest. And yes he does this at cons.
Then smiles knowingly as all the Catholics get very nervous <g>. It's great fun
to watch!

They must really go ape when you tell them about the blood . . .

And the problem with this is . . ?

For that matter, I keep forgetting to stop in and buy a PPG. There's a
paint shop here in town selling them, according to that big sign out
front.

They tend to blink several times and then back away saying "oh,
that's...nice." Then give me a look that seems to suggest I just (to quote
Joe) grew a second head and feathers. I think I scare people.

None at all provided you point it at the right people. I'm sure several
could be nominated with minimal thought right now.

Seriously though, it won't happen because, despite their constant presence
in the B5 universe, Joe doesn't approve of weapons as B5 merchandise.

I'm missing a reference here!

PPG is the abbreviation for Pittsburgh Plate Glass, whose products are
sold at paint and auto-body shops.

I get a chuckle every time I see the sign at one shop, which is next to
a gun shop. From certain angles, the blue "PPG" logo joins with the
blue Springfield Armory logo, to make it look like Springfield has a new
product out.

and isn't there an auto racing trophy called the "PPG Cup"? i know PPG has
their logo on just about all cars on one circuit.

heh, being a native Pittsburgher(just moved a year ago for personal reasons to
Southern CA), "Pittsburgh Plate Glass" is the FIRST thing i think of when i see
"PPG", not B5. :-)

and for anyone who is planning on any trips to the Pittsburgh PA area, and
enjoys architecture or plant life, i HIGHLY recommend visiting PPG Place(PPG's
Corp headquarters) in downtown Pittsburgh. Simply put, it's a beautiful plaza
of buildings, especially on a night when fireworks are being set off.

Actually it stands for Pittsburgh Paint Group.

FYI, it's Pittsburgh Plate Glass. lived there for 20 years, and have seen the
name in their corp HQ in downtown Pittsburgh. they changed their name
officially to "PPG Industries"* quite a while ago(1968). there is, however, a
subsidiary of PPG Indistries called "PPG Architectural Finishes"** which sells
"Pittsburgh Paints", "Olympic Paints and Stains", and "Lucite" brands.

and if you don't believe me, here's a quote from their website***;

"PPG Industries was founded in 1883 as the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co."
