And, as I said, there was way too much "here's what happened" type stuff.
Yeah, it was a first episode, but I for one didn't need it.
Still, I did enjoy it fairly well. I don't have anything more specific to
say on that point. We shall see...

Couldn't agree more.
Buckets of exposition were what they asked for.

Actually, I'd expected more, particularly on the ship's capabilities that
the new captain was just learning about. Of course, we fans don't need
it.
My only real gripe was wondering why they aired "A Call to Arms" AFTER the
show instead of before it. Did they *really* need to show Mortal Kombat
again?

I agree. I wasn't totally satisfied by it, but I do want more. There's a
lot of potential
here. Look what happened with B5: one of the richest science fiction epics
in many a
year.
The character of John Matheson is pretty intriguing already. The fact that
he doesn't LOOK
like you would expect is very cool. I hope they don't explain that. And
then finding out that he
is what he is (shhhh!! spoiler!!)...what agenda does he follow? Very
subtle!!
The music definitely gave the show a different feel. I'm willing to give it
a chance. Let's hope
we can go beyond the 13 episodes someday!!

....because they're either idiots who don't know what they're doing, or they
deliberately want to screw the show.

No, said decision is an un-startling result of what had gone before.
When TNT thought it had a series, it scheduled a night in the B5 universe
with ACtA before Crusade. When TNT discovered that it had only the
bloody stump of a series, the premiere became much less important. TNT
had more important stuff to show before Crusade, but the time-slot after
Crusade was unimportant enough to put in ACtA. Remember competing forces
are at work. One force got Crusade on the air and ACtA on the same day
as its premiere, the other force got ACtA scheduled after Crusade.
