Anyone interested in re-watching the series an episode a week, as a
sort of usenet group experience?

Starting, say, Friday we watch the episodes in an agreed order by
Thursday the following week...

I know plenty of us do bulk rewatchings anyway, but there is something
a little more fun about the "shared" experience of watching an episode
at about the same time, plus it makes comments and questions more
interesting if the episode is fresh in a few people's minds...

If no one is interested I'm fine with that... but I think it's worth a
try.

If you are interested, my first question is should we start with "In
The Beginning" or "The Gathering"? I'd prefer ItB, but what do people
think is better to start this with?

I love the idea of watching the whole series again. I have not
watched it all the way through since it originally aired. I even have
a few friends that might be interested in giving it a go.

I think i would prefer to start with "The Gathering" as i think "In
The Beginning" would give to much away if any newbies were to join us.

I'm with Mulder on this one. I've said many times that I thought ItB
was redundant and unnecessary. There is a place for it in the series,
however. It fits in very nicely (as JMS said it was supposed to) into
the scenes in WWE with the very aged Emperor Mollari. So I usually
stop WWE after Londo's "Bring me several more bottles" line, watch
ItB, and pick up WWE where I left off. It's a little complicated, but
it seems to fit Londo's character to me.

I have a group in Santa Fe that just started watching. We're in
Season 1 and next week we hit Parliament of Dreams.

I agree with that point on showing newbies... however, for this, just
don't show newbies ItB as part of this.

That's something I'd like to try for a person rewatch... may be a
little complex for a group thing, but they could give it a go I guess.

I think it's a little too complex for a Usenet watching group.

Cool, is a personal rewatching with the newsgroup out of the question?

It's leaning towards not showing ItB because of newbies... I don't
feel that is relevent, but I'll go along with the consensus.

My Second Question:

I said one episode a week, but what do people think of more? I
certainly wouldn't make it too many as people have lives, but I think
2 episodes (or one movie) could be viable... some may suggest 1 disc
(usually 4 episodes) but that may be too many... any thoughts?

We're doing 2 eps a week. I imagine we'll occasionally do 3 when we
get into the middle seasons...

Yeah, try doing "Messages From Earth" and "Point of No Return" back to
back, then leave'em hanging ;)

I can understand that, but once again we're confusing group watchings
with this NG rewatching the episodes which, I think, are two different
things.

No one seems to be interested in doing this, so I'll let it go.

I'd be into it, but this exact thing has been going on in a
LiveJournal group for a few months now. We're into Season 3 already.

OK, well I've rewatched and I'll post my thoughts in the next couple
of days.

If you want to post your thoughts here too (in reply, or whatever) I'd
like to see at least two sets of thoughts/comments rather than people
just replying to one set for this to actually work.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I seem to be the only one post who posted their
thoughts (replies to my thoughts aren't the same)... and as I said I
don't think this will work that way. The thoughts on episodes on just
one person (even me) aren't going to make this sing, IMHO.

Also there's no real sign that anyone replying has recently rewatched
the episode, which was the point.

I'll do another couple of episodes over the next few weeks and see if
this begins to work...
