While none of the major bookstores in my area carry the magazine, I
do know of one small magazine shop that does. I called them and they
think they'll receive that issue tomorrow (Nov 4). If push comes to
shove, you can also try to order it direct from the publisher:

You can try the magazine's site http://www.wizards.com/Amazing/
"how to find" page to order it online or call for store info.
I preordered mine through a comic shop. It it worth the effort. IMO,
the Lyta & G'Kar tale is even better than the Londo one. If Amazing is
on the ball, they'll try to get more stories from JMS, whether they're
more Lyta & G'Kar, any other B5, or totally new SF originals. So far,
it's his stories that have been the most satisfying, and got me to buy
the mag.

Copies of the issue arrived in my local Borders Bookstore while I was
browsing there this afternoon.

I also tried that. I contacted a comic book store that's got pretty
much the best selection of stuff in this area but they aren't carrying
the magazine. What I'd recomend is folks call around to different
book/magazine/comic stores and ask if they carry the magazine. If they
don't, ask if they know of any other store that might (that's how I
found the local book/magazine store that carries Amazing Stories around
here).

Not to contradict you, but Amazing Stories, even in its previous
incarnation, never had a great availability. I live in a major
metropolitan area with a significant enough portion of techies that one
of our PBS stations runs a whole evening of SF programs as a major means
of fundraising. SF is, comparatively, very popular around here.
I actually went looking for the previous issue of Amazing Stories with
the B5 story. I finally found one bookstore that carries it. None of the
major chains or lone bookstore I checked does so (including Barnes and
Nobles, where others seem to be finding it... they actually checked all
their local stores for me and one used to carry it; none presently do).
It is a good thing I like to go to bookstores (even if my wallet
doesn't). I'd have never found the magazine beyond a con or the Internet
otherwise.

Alyson

I live on the Space Coast of FL and found it in the local Barnes and Noble in
Melbourne (the one in FL, not the one in Australia).
Great story too. I hope JMS continues with the adventures of Lyta and G'kar.

Anyone in the Toronto area (Canada, Ontario), can get Amazing Stories
at Sci-Fi World. They had the new issue in yesterday.
s.t.
Well, if you're in the Wash. DC area, Borders carries it around here.
That's where I got the last issues, and I just picked up the new one
at a Borders in the Pittsburgh area yesterday.
Barnes & Noble doesn't carry it in this area.

I think 3,000 miles is probably a little too far to go for a magazine
(though it also has a Frederick Pohl Heechee story in it and I've been
hooked on those for years).
Actually, I don't know if Borders carries it here. None of them are
sufficiently close to me to check (Borders only relatively recently came
into the Bay Area).
Since a bunch of folks sent me mail asking where I did find it, if you
are in the Bay Area you could try Tower Books. I got Amazing at the one
in Mt. View. Although they are remodeling, their magazines are still
available. Beware that they split the sf magazines by size (really! the
digests are way down by the end and the 8x11's are in the middle) and
they've moved everything for the renovation. The staff knows where
they've put everything though.
You can ask bookstores whether they stock a magazine, even if there
don't appear to be issues around. The nifty computers can not only tell
you if they have any copies but also when they expect the next issue in.
That should take care of any issues of quarterly distribution.
Best,
Alyson
