I just saw an article at the Los Angeles Times website about Warner
Bros. animator Chuck Jones. There is going to be a documentary about
him on PBS. Since you like the old Warner Bros. cartoons, I thought you
would be interested in this.

Do you have any favorite Jones cartoons? I like One Froggy Evening,
What's Opera Doc, &, of course, Duck Dodgers in the 24th-and-a-half
Century. Also like the Grinch (can't wait to see the movie with Jim
Carrey!).

I think it's impossible to find a favorite Chuck Jones ep...they were all
terrific.

In general, my favorites were Duck Amuck and Duck Rabbit Duck.

Anything where Daffy completely loses it and goes transcendentally nuts is aces
with me.

Duck Amuck, definitely. First time I saw that I laughed so loud I think I
woke the neighbours two streets away! It wasn't just the wonderful way they
played with animation, it was Daffy's reaction. How something made up of so
little could have SUCH an expressive face I have no idea, but you just KNOW
how he's feeling!

LOVE that description. Mind you, Road Runner cartoons will always have a
place in my heart. Those things still crease me up on the 20th viewing.

Thank you! That's the answer! Daffy and company take over _Voyager_
and... at last something to look forward. Daffy in the center seat,
Marvin as the Doctor, Bugs in engineering with Lola? (basketball
player), Elmer Fudd in charge of the Borgs on boards, Foghorn Leghorn
takes over Tuvok's position...

LK
Looking forward to a Babylon Park feature- length theatrical release
and its Oscar nominated song.

Is "Duck Rabbit Duck" the one where it's Rabbit Season, then Duck
Season, then Rabbit Season, etc.?

If so, I like that one, too--very funny.

For some reason, my mother *loves* the Pepe Le Pew cartoons. Every time
one of them comes on TV, she gets such a kick out of it. I just like to
see Bugs & Daffy go at it.

Definitely. You can't beat original Chuck Jones stuff (except perhaps Tom
and Jerry which he never seemed suited to.) The comic timing is just
perfect.

In fact, there are so many hilarious old WB cartoons it's amazing. (Shame
they went on to make loads of cheaper, talkier ones that aren't remotely
funny).

The Chuck Jones special is on tonight (Wed.). Check your local PBS
schedule to see when it airs. I know it is on at 9 PM on both the San
Diego & Los Angeles affiliates.

I'm in France and have a friend in the San Francisco area. Can anybody
tell me when that documentary airs, so that I can ask him to tape it?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know if it's Chuck Jones or not, but I like the Tweety and Sylvester
cartoons. Especially 'Hyde & Go Tweet'. I can't believe people tried to
get these cartoons removed because of 'violence'. IMHO they are timeless
classics.

Umm, that would be just about every Daffy episode... :-)

"Wabbit season!"
"Duck season, FIRE!"

I'm busting a gut just picturing it... :D

How about a remake of Duck Dodgers featuring Londo and G'Kar? As Daffy and Marvin, respecitvely. Vir would the perfect "willing cadet" :-)

Pepe annoys me. Any Bugs vs. Daffy rocks. I'm also seriously addicted to the Road Runner. The one where Wile E. rigs the catapult that toasts him no matter where he triggers it from... I'm pissing my pants by the end of that :)

Growing up, I loved all the Looney Tunes cartoon characters except for Pepe
Le Pew and Foghorn Leghorn, both of who (whom?) irritated me. As an adult, I
now find Pepe very funny, but Foghorn Leghorn is still irritating!

My favourites are Duck Dodgers (aka Daffy Duck), Bugs Bunny and the Road
Runner

Wouldn't it be great if WB put out a "best of" Looney Tunes DVD?

YES!!!!!!!!! Someone else who remembers that one. I was curled up on the
floor with tears poring down my face over that! Was that the same one where
you had this interminable shot of the railway track that went around, over,
through and just about everywhere it could before finally ascending the
cliff side to show Wile about to strike the match? After that long build up
he lights the fuse, puts his goggles in place, rumbles a bit, takes off down
the ramp....

And goes straight through the bottom of the railway line to smash into the
floor.

as soon as we invent a storage technology capable of containing every episode
they made, they will. <g>

add me to the "anti-pepe" people, though i loved foghorn, but daffy and bugs
were my favorites.
