I was told, directly, by a number of cast members that they were most
emphatically *not* paid for their appearances at VorCon, or in other cases paid
only partially. I have not heard anything to the contrary since then.
Beyond that, I know that WB has initiated action against Cooney on a variety of
charges based on his convention activities, but that's all I know at this time.
I don't really keep track of it because he's not worth the expenditure of
energy.

Most of the guests at VorCon were not (fully) paid. For whatever
reasons, (some have suggested poor location or poor promotion), the
conference was poorly attended and hence short of funds.

The last I heard only one of the actors had not been fully paid. The
only people who really know are those involved.
Regards.

Cooney says a lot of things.
Take everything he says with a saltlick.....or better.

Companies House is where according to UK law, all legal documents
relevant to UK-based companies activities have to be filed. They have
a web site (http://www.companieshouse.org.uk) where enquiries can be
made of specified companies.
If you go to the web site and click on the "Free Information" button
then search on the company name field for "wolf359" (or company number
03198158) and select the link, you will notice that the last accounts
submitted were on the 31st Dec. 1996, and that the latest set of
account has been overdue since 30th November 1998.
It is not as if the company in question forgets to file its details to
company house. The last filing was on the 14th May this year, and
listed the company directors and company secratary (a certain Mr
Cooney in the last of the latter).
There is also an interesting page further in the web site that lists
the mandatory fines for late filing of accounts.
Incidentally, his name is "Brian" with an "I" - it says so on that
latest filing (which is not available in full on the web site - it's
necessary to pay Companies House for the full print of the microfiche.
I know. I've got a copy).
Given this state of affairs, I doubt that much credence can be given
to any claims of a financial nature or otherwise by Mr Cooney.
Just to set the record straight. Hope this helps.
Paul.

do you know which actor was not paid, and why?

Share what you know. Learn what you don't.
> Hm. Someone I've never heard of posting from a deja account.
Sorry not to have introduced myself before, they do not let me out much.
> If you're genuine, then profuse and abject apologes now,
Is anybody in the world "genuine", Do not we all contain some
falseholds.
>but we've had some ..... interesting ...... posters in the past.
Is not the point of these discussion forums, to have "interesting
posters".
> I know one actor at least who hasn' t been paid, and I'd be
fascinated to know the true reason.
Is this the same person "Tony" mentioned in his letter.
Michael
Call me Anthony. I don't like people who hide behind pseudonyms getting
informal with me.
>do you know which actor was not paid,
At the end of July Brian Cooney told me that he had paid the outstanding
moneys owed to the actors who appeared at VorCon, except that one actor
had not yet received the full amount. I know that at that time the
actor Brian named had indeed not been fully paid.
>and why?
I don't represent any of the parties involved, so it is not for me to
comment on the whys and wherefores of who was paid first and who last.
I hope that the remaining moneys have now been paid.
Sincerely,
Anthony
