Jabba The Hutt: Food or Sex ?

I know this may sound like a silly question, but it one I wonder about
when I see this scene in ROTJ. Jabba is talking to the slave girl, who
is resisting going near him. He then dumps her in the Rancor pit. Was
Jaaba looking for some fast food or some Hutt-to-human sex ? Your open,
but non-disgusting answers are awaited.

I can imagine myself being a Jabba type (not easily, mind you), and
having the sense of humour that I have, I would bring unsuspecting
humans up to my gaping slimy mouth, and lick my lips purely to
frighten the poor sods for a laugh. Jabba seems to enjoy a good
spectacle; perhaps his sense of humour leads him to do the above
to the slave girl, and later, licking his lips at Leia.

But, we *don't* really see what he does to Leia. First, he licks her
face so maybe he does keep some slave girls for food. Doesn't he
eat that creature in the bowl after he drops Oola to the Rancor?
Somehow, Leia is coerced into wearing that slave outfit and then she
just kinda sits there looking bored.
And on the sail barge Jabba says something like "Soon you will
learn to appreciate me". So he didn't and wasn't planning to do
anything with Leia until after Luke et al. were dead?

Maybe Leia is just there as some sort of status symbol. We don't see too
many other attractive women on Tatooine (except for Camie) so women are
probably a precious commodity. Maybe Leia was chained to Jabba just as a
show of wealth.
BTW, ever wonder why Leia was attractive to Jabba et al, but they were all
repulsive to us? A little bit of cosmic arrogance, I think.

I think he meant that Leia would appreciate him after she relized Jabba's
great power and her old friends relative weakness.

Maybe he wanted her for some good ol' Personal Hygine? Who knows, may
a Hutt's pleasures are a little more exotic that we normally think of.
They _may_ be exotic than we can think of...

You are all forgetting that there was a scene that was shot kind of as a
joke. You see, at this time, Fisher was in a continual drug-induced daze
and she was up for just about anything. They were shooting ahead of
schedule and she was in the outfit so after-hours they agreed to meet on a
closed set with the Jabba manipulation crew, and a skeleton shooting crew,
Marquand, and Fisher. The lights were already setup for Jaba's closeup.
They put Fisher on a platform of some kind (she had the chain around her
neck which Jabba was holding still) and she spread her legs in front of
Jabba's face and they shot a hardcore scene of oral sex. They got so into
it that they tried having Fisher coax some goo out of a makeshift hole
they stuck in Jabba's tail but it never looked quite right. Since they
didn't plan on it, they didn't have the right materials to mimick the
fluids. They tried using the same egg-white stuff they used for his
mucuous but it just didn't work, and Fisher didn't like the taste. But it
may work if you just think of it as alien physiology.
After they got the rushes, Lucas walked in the projection booth and
everyone was laughing out loud. Lucas looked at them and wondered what
the matter was until he checked out what they hath wrought. At first he
got angry because he felt that his money had been wasted on a shot he
couldn't use. He ordered them to stop the viewing and he pulled Marquand
over to speak with him.
"Listen, hotshot. What are you doing with my baby?"
"Hey, you're going to be a very much richer man, George. The Ewoks I'm
playing to the hilt, the kiddies will love it. But why not have a little
nookie? SW needs some. Videotapes are becoming the rage. We just
shelve this for a while and release a special edition later. "
"What?"
"Yeah, well, I just thought we could have this for a blooper reel at
first, but we can make some money on it too. Don't you think it's
logical that this may have happened?"
Lucas' face softened as he thought about it.
"Okay, it does make sense, but we can't release it like this. Shelve it
for now and if it leaks out I'll break you. I don't plan on letting this
ever get out, but maybe I'll think about it--in 10 or 15 years".
They laughed and started up the projector again and had a grand time
watching the footage. Lucas finally gave in and allowed preliminary
sound mixing to be done on the scene with Fisher doing oohs and aahs in
her dubbing and the Jabba guy doing his thing. John Williams was
consulted in a secret session about the scene and a piece mysteriously
known as "Jabba's Hunger" was recorded and remains as an unused outtake.
So now you know what to look for in the re-release ;)
