jedi weaponry

The electricity was a dark thing. The Emporer said somthing along the lines
of now you will see the true power of the dark side. Then he fired the
electricity at luke. The power he was refering to must have been the
electricity. Also Yoda said "The jedi uses the force for knowladge and
defense, Never for attack." what use would a good jedi have for electricity
other then attack.
