The Star Wars fan community recently received lots of
information on the upcoming movies, which has sparked
a debate on when Luke and Leia (as babies) will appear
in the upcoming films, and how old they are in 'A New Hope'.

The age of the Skywalker twins are usually thought to
be anywhere from 14 to 22. It all depends on what you read.

The novelization of 'A New Hope' says that Luke is 20 in Chapter 2
"Luke Skywalker was twice the age of the ten-year-old vaporator..."

The script of 'A New Hope' says that Like is 18.
"...Luke Skywalker, a farmboy with heroic aspirations who looks
much younger than his eighteen years."

Just remember, as Ben said, "So what I have told you was true...
from a certain point of view."

Cheers,

Ohhhh yeah I'd like to think that Leia was just a little 14 year old girl ;-)

18 years is pretty young for a member of the Imperial senate, like Leia
was.

Leia was supposedly the youngest member of the Imperial Senate.
Basically, the whole age question is up for grabs. For instance, if you
look on the back of the ESB character cards, you'll notice that Luke is
older than Leia by a couple of years. Hmmm, that must have been a real
drag for their mother to carry around twins that were born years apart.

The official script says that Luke is 18 and Leia is 16. Obviously, this
changed later when they were dubbed twins.

When ANH was made, Carrie Fisher WAS 18 years old. Hard too
believe huh? Seeing as episode I will take place 32? years
before and episode II 20? years before it is likely L&L won't
make an appearance till episode III.

The force will be with you... always
Luke.

Referring to the Time Chart in the second edition of the Star Wars
encyclopedia, Luke and Leia are 18 in ANH. Han is 29. Chewbacca is 200.
Threepio is 112. Ben Kenobi is 60. Anakin Skywalker (Darth) is 55.

Thanx.

According to the almighty _Guide to the Star Wars Universe_
book....it states the Luke and Leia were born 18 years before
Star Wars 4.
Of course...say what you want because you could always say that
their years are longer or shorter than ours....
As to 18 being young for a senator(Leia)...she IS the youngest
senator and since she IS a royal "family" member it would make
sence for her to be very active in government since she enjoys
that anyway! Besides...quite a number of Kings and Queens of
Earth have been 18.

I can't remember where I heard or read it but it said "Leia was the youngest
Imperial Senater at age 18".

I thought she was _19_ when ANH was done, and 24 when ROTJ was done...

In response to Jake's OB1 quote..."A certain point of view????"
:)
I do wish that Lucas himself could solve this question for
us...in The Guide to the SW Universe (drum roll please) it says
that LandL were born 18 years before SWANH...oh well...just my
2 cents...
