Most fanfiction takes this latter view. And in "Truce at Bakura", Leia
learns to accept Anakin but refers to Bail Organa as "the man I will
always consider my true father".
I can see Luke naming his son Anakin quite easily. But Leia? The only
argument I can see is she considered it a way to truly make peace with
Vader being her natural father.
And Han fans, do you really buy him going along with this? Especially
as easily as he does in Dark Empire II? I thought that scene lacked
any sort of character analysis as far as why they decide to name the
third child what they do.
Any ideas?

Don't you know what really happened ? I thought everyone did...
When Leia had the baby they were in the medical ward on Coruscant and Leia
looked at the baby and said."I think I'll name him Bail. After my father"
and Han said "I think that would be lovely."
Then luke barged in and hopped up and down whining like he did on Tatooine.
"But you said you were going to call him Anakin after Daddy."
Leia "I said no such thing"
Han: "Yea where do you get off luke"
Luke: "But I'm never going to get laid, the closest I get is using the force
to jerk off.. So I'll never have a baby... Why can't his name be Anakin.
Please please please"
Leia: "No I don't want to name him after that evil man"
Han: Yea, the guy froze me remember.. That wasn't someone I like to remember"
Luke: <waving his hand in front of them both> "You WILL name the baby Anakin"
Leia: I will Name the baby anakin
Han : Yea lets name the baby anakin
Luke: <waving his hand again> you WILL give me $50 dollars
Leia : Get a day job you moocher
Han punches luke
Luke : Ow
That was the last chapter of "Luke and Leia's bogus journey"
>Luke: <waving his hand again> you WILL give me $50 dollars
>Leia : Get a day job you moocher
>Han punches luke
>Luke : Ow
That was hysterical. Especially the above lines.

I still think there's a big difference in accepting someone as your
father and loving & respecting him as she does Bail Organa. In comparing
the two as a source for your son's name, how do you put aside the latter
for the former?
Obviously we can think up a reason but we shouldn't have to. Anderson
should have when he decided to name the child that, or Dark Horse
should have if it was their decision. And of course their only reason
was "Wouldn't it be cool to name him Anakin and give him Vader's abilities
in the Force?" Yeah, fine; but no thought towards the characters
was given in that reason.
I agree with you, and it was DARK HORSE COMICS not Anderson who
*unwisely* chose to name him Anakin.

Scenes from the Solo breakfast table:
Anakin: Daddy, who was I named after?
Han: Your grandfather. He was evil incarnate, responsible for billions
of deaths and the suffering of the entire galaxy, now eat your Corn Flakes.
just a thought...

Yeah, but does Bail Solo sound as good as Anakin Solo? Maybe Leia thought,
well, I like Bail Organa but I don't like the name so why not name my son
after my other father? Works fine with me. Anyway, ever heard of a Jedi named
Bail Solo?

Anakin was not evil. Vader was evil. Anakin was a good man. Have you
read Truce at Bakura? I think that naming her son Anakin, might show
that she has finally come to accept who her father was and made peace
with him as Luke did. Also, naming her son Anakin in a way allows for
the memory of the good man her father once was, rather than the monster
he became. So, the way I see it, it baby Anakin asks who he was named
after, he can be told that he was named after his grandfather, who was a
great and powerful Jedi.

actu the named Anakin was only associated to Darth Before he turned
to the Dark Side. Under the name Anakin he was OB1's friend and student.
He forsaked this name after he turned to the dark side(I guess the name
Anakin Skywalker was less scary sounding then Darth Vader. Although it
will be interesting to see if Anakin Solo will be turned to the dark side
of the Force. It probably won't happen though since Xar Kun is dead and
the Sith are extinct...(At least that the say for now). Of course it
would be interesting to see Anakin Solo turn to the Dark side right now.
I think it would be funny to see a 3 year old shooting bolts of lightning
into luke whenever luke tries to pick up Anakin. Or seeing Anakin
running around in a small black cloak saying "Turn to the Dark Side, I
can feel your anger, give in to your Hate."

Yeah! That sounds like a scene right out of "The Omen."

I have to agree that Leia would not have named him Anakin. It's one thing
to come to terms with who your biological father is, and quite another to
name your kid after him. Bail doesn't sound quite right either, but they
could have named him Ben. After all, it was Ben who was brought them all
together (albeit unknowingly). Ben Solo doesn't sound bad. Or how about
Obi-Wan Solo? Nah...
