Did you ever notice that the fire swamp in The Princess Bride looks
remarkably like Dagobah? A friend of mine made this observation, so we
checked which company released Princess Bride: 20th Century Fox. Hmmm...

I noticed this too, the first time I saw The Princess Bride. Of course
the Fire Swamp isn't _quite_ as muddy, and doesn't have all the
interesting reptiles (only ROUS'), but the similarity is there. :)

But did you ever notice that Goldman's book "The Princess Bride" was
published in '73?
Also, did you ever notice that swamps tend to look a lot alike?

To me it seemed that the original post was not refering to the use of a
similar swamp as a setting for the story, but was referring to the possibility
that Fox used the same set for both movies.

Well, considering some of the footage of Dagoba was shot in Lucas'

That would make sense... and try to imagine Westley and Buttercup stumbling
on Yoda, R2, and Luke... <grin> --Karen

Hmmm...I hadn't noticed the similarity before (the flame spurts
distracted me, really!), but you're right, it's there. If you think about
it, maybe you could drag up a couple other similarities...such as: Westley
the Jedi! Hey, (a) He's a blond farmboy who takes off (b) he wears black
for most of the movie (c) I've always wondered about how Westley seems to
know what everyone else is thinking...The Force would explain everything!

And, as has been mentioned before, when Vader says to Tarkin "As you wish," he
was really saying, "I love you."
