I noticed this too, the first time I saw The Princess Bride. Of course
the Fire Swamp isn't _quite_ as muddy, and doesn't have all the
interesting reptiles (only ROUS'), but the similarity is there. :)

To me it seemed that the original post was not refering to the use of a
similar swamp as a setting for the story, but was referring to the possibility
that Fox used the same set for both movies.

Well, considering some of the footage of Dagoba was shot in Lucas'
swimming pool that was under construction at the time, I think the
posibilities are pretty remote
