Howdy!

First off I want to make it clear that the recent Variety article about
Natalie Portman is legitimate, but that's not what I wanted to talk
about.

As many of you know, we at the Star Wars Page at Texas A&M had been
talking to 'Natalie Portman' and her friends 'Amber and Rachel'. Well,
the people we were talking to were pulling a scam on us.

Darin and I had suspected it for a while, but these people were so good
at what they did, they even fooled us on a number of occasions. They
happen to be big Natalie Portman fans AND Star Wars fans. Therefore,
they were able to provide random details that seemed to make their
stories legitimate. They also got info on Natalie trying out for the
prequels from a Natalie Portman fan newsletter. That's the story that
they ran with.

We were willing to play along with their little scam, just in case it
turned out to be true, but now they're doing the same thing to Harry
Knowles. We want it to stop.

So who are they really? Well, here's a list of all the e-mail
addresses and aliases they used when talking to us as 'Natalie'.

Rach...@aol.com
Luther A Strickland - nat...@ix.netcom.com
NatRach
Natport
fett...@ix.netcom.com
Van Stickland
Alan Stickland
Alan V Strickland
Rach...@aol.com
tuske...@aol.com

If you jump over to http://www.dejanews.com and do a search on any of
the names, you'll find some of their original postings to this group.
They happen to be owned by Veruc...@aol.com or Veruc...@aol.com. He
also happens to own the Star Wars site at
http://members.aol.com/veruca1138/starw/starwars.html
We were tipped off when 'Rachel' started doing promos for this guys
site. Also, some of the addresses 'Rachel' used showed up on teen-sex
and incest newsgroups looking for a little action. Somehow I don't
think Natalie Portman is into incest. Also, the e-mails would come in
during the middle of the day and very late at night. Kind of odd for a
kid in high school. And so many words were misspelled, you'd think an
Aggie was typing it or someone who did it on purpose.

For further proof, look at the graphic 'Rachel' gave Harry. Then go
look at the intro page to Veruca's Star Wars page. Look similar?

We have also been talking to a REAL Natalie Portman fan, and here's
what he had to say:

----------------------------------------------------

1) Tuskenland and Rachel228 are on the same aol account *shock horror*
2) Tuskenland and Rachel228 BOTH spell for crap, and have terrible
english...coincidence?
3) The picture that Natalie so nicely posted in for Harry looks quite
similar to all the other home made pics on Tuskenlands Miss Thing Page.
4) At one stage, Rachel228 told me the exploits of Natalies Dog that
day...who happened to have been dead for a year at the time of post ;-)
This person can see ghosts.
5) Rachel rarely EVER said anything without putting a plug in for
Tuskenlands site page.
6) Has said that she/he lived in the same town as Nat, and were best
friends
but got the town wrong...could happen I suppose, right?
7) Natalie has asked the REAL Rachel about whether she knows what a
newsgroup is...wanna know what the answer was...you guessed it..."NO!"

Well, that's all there really is to say on the subject. Old Veruca is
probably laughing now saying "Dance, my puppets! Dance!" Well, he
should. He suckered most all of us pretty good.

Those of you who said 'she' was fake from the beginning should pat
yourselves on the back and be happy with your Force abilities.

The moral of the story? Be careful where you get your news from. And
also don't believe everything you read on "The Net of a Million Lies."

That thing on Natalie Portman on Harry's Page made me really start to worry
about the validity of his "rumors". Before The truth of the fake Portman
friend came out, I wondered to myself Hmmm..... Let's say Im a friend of
someone who is trying out for a hush hush secret part. The friend of mine is
probably under some sort of verbal agreement with Lucas not to speek about it.
Do you think that friend of mine would actually tell me some of the screen
test lines? I dont think so. And any one else notice how insanely Generic
the lines are? I know its only a screen test, but How many times have I
heard, "you cant give into the hate". Geez if your gonna fake it make it
original. Oh well, just goes to show that half the shit we hear is bullshit.
Gotta go study.
