"You were talking about a Coalition of the Willing to kick the living kriff
out of Hacker," McEwok grinned. "We have here the Fellowship of the Thread,
which amounts to basically the same thing. And which is singularly lacking
in more concrete objectives."

"Hang on?" Bill interrupted. "You're saying that _Lord of the Rings_ is a
calque on the War on Terrorism?"

"I'm saying it can be," McEwok suggested, grinning now.

Lets see, road east from the grey havens, passes through the Shire,
continues on towards Rivendale. Turning south before Rivendale, you
pass the west gave to moria before turning east again into Rohan, at the
north-west edge of which is Isengard. I could be headed there. But you
know I won't make the same mistakes as Sauroman. Ents are best left
undisturbed.

And Isengard was such a pretty place for a picnic until Sauroman wrecked it.
