Hmm... have you checked the setup during the simulation ?
Probably you have set to unlimited weapon or something like that.
Make sure you have limited weapon with you...

I'm assuming your trying to get past Tour 1, mission 4.....
Well I've learned a trick from a friend, but it's sort of
cheating. When the shuttles hyperspace in, send them home.
(I always wondered why they didn't do that in the first place!)
Then take out the first group of tie bombers ASAP. Then hang
around the corvette and pick of tie fighters until the second wave
of tie bombers jumps in. Take them out ASAP, and by the time you
finish this, the corvette should be almost done docking. Keep the
pesky tie fighters away for a couple more minutes and you ought to
make it. I've only beaten this mision four times without sending
the shuttles home right away.

First of all, make sure you're not set on invulnerable w/ unlimited ammo.
In order to proceed, you need to be vulnerable w/ limited ammo. If that's
not the problem, make sure you're aware of what the primary objectives are.
You MUST complete the primary objectives in order to proceed. The practise
missions do not affect the tour of duty at all.
