I heard this was a hoax...Eric
I think I saw a site with her on the Cover. I do know that she did an
interview for Playboy. I do not know if it was published. It is a good
possibility that she did a cover for the issue her interview was in. I
do not know if she actually posed, but the cover I saw was for some
month in 1983, I couldn't make out the month die to a fuzzy picture.
you are correct. she did not pose for Playboy. Also, the cover is fake.
I collect Playboys and have never seen the cover. I have all the issues
back to 1958 and I have not seen this cover.

*buzzer* WRONG! The "cover" of Carrie Fisher in Playboy is a fake, and
a good one. The picture you see is from a publicity shot for SW taken
with a bunch of other SW personalities on the beach. (nice sentence
there, eh?) You can find several of these publicity pictures at Princess
Leia's Page Fiesta at http://www.tiac.net/users/weric/leia.html .
This rumor is along the same lines as "Carrie Fisher is suing LucasArts
and Kenner, so there will be no more Leia figs made." People will
believe anything these days...

Actually, that is the cover for an issue of Rolling Stone magazine. The
Playboy cover has Carrie smiling with a black sweater (?). I've seen a
JPG somewhere, but I'm sure it's a fake.

As well, the exact picture of Carrie "pasted" on to the Playboy
cover appears in the back of the April issue of the British mag "Total
Film" with Han Solo on the cover. The picture was taken from the same
"beach session" as the Rolling Stone cover. In the U.K. mag, she is
leaning on the beach ball.

Man, I wouldn't admit that so freely or proudly if I were you. How old
are you anyway?

I have that picture (autographed) that was used to fake the Playboy
issue. It's from a photo shoot for Rolling Stone Magazine titled Stars
Wars On Vacation (or something like that) from 1983 when ROTJ came out.
When I first saw the picture for sale -- with a beach ball -- I couldn't
figure out where it was from either. I've seen the Rolling Stones cover
but don't own it (yet!)
I could e-mail some .jpgs to people who are interested...
Hope this helps,
